I'll not be on for a while

I had an appointment with the audiologist a couple of days ago and it was the most informative session I have had so far. She was very understanding and it came as no surprise when she told me she was also a tinnitus counsellor, so I will probably see her again later this month as I have been referred by the hearing consultant. She was full of praise for the BTA but advised me not to visit the forum so frequently as it could make my tinnitus worse, simply by focusing attention on it, so I will probably stay in touch maybe once a month. or so. My recent prolonged spike which almost drove me to the point of insanity, has subsided slightly thank God and I have had a few quieter days recently but the volume has definitely increased way beyond what it was before. I am keeping myself distracted with hobbies and I have recently started painting again which is wonderful. I can work away for hours on end with some music playing and even although the T is still there, it doesn't bother me so much. Best wishes to you all and here's hoping you all manage to find some peace and quiet soon.

Jim, nice to read that things have settled and you are feeling more positive. Yes, the more we think about it, the more we hear it. A good night's sleep; a calm mind and quietly distracting activities help me too.
