Don't worry too much E, it will settle down even if it takes a day or so.

My T has been horrendous for about 3 weeks and yesterday I went out for lunch and the sound of coffee machines and clattering dishes nearly killed me!

I then went to pick up my little granddaughter from school and had to go to her assembly. The whole school were in the hall skipping, cheering, clapping until I thought I was being tortured, but I just kept smiling through it!! My smallest granddaughter who us 2 puts her hands over her ears and goes OW if someone makes a loud noise, copying me, poor little thing😁

The very weird thing is though that after a very noisy day yesterday my T was a lot calmer today. There is just no figuring it out!

Anyway, now you know, I'm a grandma, but not an ancient one....yet😂😂

Don't feel guilty, you will start to feel a lot easier about it as time goes on.👍

I can tell you now E, you are going to be just fine, and don't forget, we are all going to be with you every step cause we're all waiting for that pill your going to develop😂

On a serious note though, in the beginning of my T I was in a bad way and when I asked my audiologist why some people move on and habituated to their T and others don't she said simply 'personality'.

You have not made many posts yet, but it is easy to see already you have the right personality to get better and live your life to the full.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care.

We are all here to help you.

Hi Eyehdh I am sending you a hug. I’m really sorry to hear about your argument. Stress can make T Spike but have hope as in my experience this doesn’t last. You didn’t spoil there fun. This is a horrible condition and if they did the same to me I’d definitely lose it. If they don’t know about your condition already tell them and. explain what it’s like. If they were aware of your T they were being thoughtless.

Take care

Hi Edward, Curlew has written lovely posts, to which I cannot add much, except to say that although I have habituated (3 years ago I was in hell, truly) there are times when mine flares up. A couple of weeks ago my bloke took me to an air show ( the first since I got T) and whilst I was there I could tell that there would be repercussions, despite my wearing ear plugs! The next few days were bothersome but it calmed down. Mine spikes if I go to noisy pubs etc.

You seem so positive Ed, you will get the better of the inconvenience of tinnitus. Distraction and being happy do help.

I am sending positive thoughts to you. Ps my two children had to put up with the difficulties of a marriage break up and they did well, by being determined to be the master of their own lives by studying well at school and college

Love

Hi Angela. Have been reading your post and saw that you went to an Air Show. I’ve had T since over a year now and it is really bad tonight. Hence the visit to this forum. But we have plans to go to the Royal international Air Tattoo in July. I have been s bit concerned about how it would affect my T, I have purchased the ear plugs that musicians use to still be able to hear but block out the loudness. What kind of earplugs did you use. Thanks Donna x

Hi Donna,

Sorry for the delay in replying, but I tend not to use social media over the weekend.

The ear plugs that I used for the air show were the basic, very cheap ones that you can buy almost anywhere - not the type that I would recommend for air shows, concerts etc! In fact, in 10 days, I will be going to a

"talent contest" at the local theatre - my young niece is performing - and I am nervous about the effect it may have on my T. I will be posting a question on the forum to ask other members what they would recommend! I have deliberately avoided any events with loud music since I got the T 3 and a half years ago; not that mine was caused by loud noise. I just want to become part of normal family routines again; hence I agreed to go to the air show.

You say that you have the proper musicians' ear plugs, so I would imagine that they will be good at quietening the aircraft noise - my goodness, I had never realised just how loud those Typhoons were! The positive is that although my T became bothersome for a day or two after the air show, it settled down again once I had got into my usual quiet life. Go for it Donna, with the right frame of mind we can have our lives back.

Love and best wishes,

Angela xx

Thanks for replying Angela. Haha must admit I LOVED the airshows when went. I’ll see how I get on. Hope you enjoy the show your niece is in. Must admit I work in an Asda (23 years for my sins ) the noise they’re helps but when I get in the car, my T is always really bad. But went to see the Greatest Showman (twice 😳) and I was fine afterwards. I used the earplugs the first time but not the second and Si was fine after both 😳 My T is because alive got a benign Brain Tumour 🙄 and they says that’s what’s causing the tinnitus but even if they removed it, it’s not guaranteed to stop the tinnitus 😢 Thanks again. You are living it up Donna! I have always loved air shows - especially helicopters but the Shuttleworth one was the first since the T. We have to fight on and battle the T into submission!
