Went to see doctor after ringing started in left ear.he said ear was full of wax and could be touching the ear drum.he gave me drops which I used. Five days later got wax removed by microsuction at a clinic. Noise reduced a small bit but is still there.i asked audiologist why noise didn't go away.he said it will take a few weeks for ear to settle down again.went to the doctor and he said something similar that ear will get back to normal over time.has anyone else had this problem??

The truth is Michael that when we have Tinnitus..the med evidence now coming from studies of the cochlear and the hair nerve cells is that not only do the nerves die, but the remaining hairs connected to the vital nerve cells appear to be confused as to which way they sweep the sound vibrations..in fact some electron microscopy photos now can show the nerve hairs all jumbled and its this confused state that they now believe gives us the Tinnitus sound in our brains. The reality is that while some say that ear clearing helps with Tinnitus, it would appear all that is happening is that your eardrum is working more efficiently and back ground( blanking noise) fools your brain into thinking that the Tinnitus is reduced. Fascinating...stuff but bad news for us Tinnitus sufferers...maybe in years to come the answer will lie in a regrowth somehow of the nerve cells and the critical nerve hairs.

Hi,it's 12 days now since I have got wax out.funny thing is I only had it on the left ear.but now getting this annoying humming noise in the head.doctor says this is down to anxiety and stress worrying about the tinnitus.he said tinnitus will settle once inflammation in the ear canal settles down.i don't think it's as simple as that. I just wish noise in head would go away.

If you have inflammation then is this an ear infection ??

Did the doctor give you a course of antibiotics or antibacterial or antibiotic drops?

Hi,yes I was given a steroid anti biotic drops but it hasn't helped.i think I have left ear so sensitive with sleeping with ear plugs all them years.then all the wax that has been taken out. Ears probably don't know what's going on.nothing there now to protect them.hopefully over time they will recover.

Hi,no mines hasn't calmed down but I have other issues like sinus and eustation tube problems.i would say it was definitely wax that gave me tinnitus with wearing ear plugs at night and pushing wax in against the drum.if this is your only thing you can link your tinnitus to,I would say it will fade, the main thing is keep calm and don't dwell to much on the noise.

Thanks Michael
