Hello,

My name is Amina and I’m 18 years old. About a month ago I had ear wax removed from my ear by my ENT doctor by suction and after that I developed a constant high pitch ringing in my right ear and a feeling of fullness that comes and goes. I went back to my doctor with ye symptoms and he told me I have an inner ear virus and he prescribed me with steroids and a nerve nourishment. It has been a month on this medication and the ringing is still hear sometimes i feel like my head is vibrating and it is giving me severe anxiety and depression. Will it go away in time or will I be able to cope ?

Hi first of all don’t worry sounds to me like in time it will settle down. Make sure you drink plenty of water. What works for some may not work for others you can try vitamin b12 or magnesium and or zinc they can be bought at Holland and Barrett’s not saying they will work but I’ve read other stories were they have please do not worry as it will settle in time

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

Tinnitus does generally get better over time, especially if it has been caused by an infection or ear wax build up. And even if it doesn’t go away completely, it can get to a level where it isn’t intrusive, and it isn't noticeable - in the same way you probably don’t really notice traffic noise when you walk down the street.

The time tinnitus takes to disappear or reduce in intensity varies from person to person, but there are some tips and techniques you can do to help.

We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

I guess I’m just gonna have to accept it and get used to it or else it will consume me and I don’t want that. When ever I feel like it gets to much and I’m gonna explode, I just thank god im healthy non the less and others have it far worse. Count your blessings.

Hi you will over time habituate to the tinnitus. Don’t listen to negative comments. I’ve had it for over 35 years, most of the time it really doesn’t bother me although I hear it above every other sound. Try and take vitamins, they might help, but do not spend loads of money on miracle cures. When a cure is available it will be world wide news!

Take care xx
