Hearing aid

Have had my T for 6 months now, due to hearing loss. Sometimes I get pain like a really bad earache. Nothing seems to help. Am being fitted for a hearing aid beginning of February which I am hoping may give me some respite from the constant piercing whistle in my ear. Would appreciate any feedback from anyone else who has been fitted with one recently.

I had no luck with my hearing aid had it for about 15 months now to much wax building up had micro suction 3 times now still no joy sorry

I had an immediate positive bounce when I started wearing my HA's 6mths ago. The first few days were bliss as they got rid of the T entirely - briefly anyway. After that initial bounce, it started creeping back in and got louder over time until I was almost back to where I'd started. I say almost because it's hard to compare my current perception of the T to where I was before wearing my little fellas. All the medical / audiology professionals are agreed that correcting any hearing impairment will only help in managing your T, so there's nothing to lose in going w/ the HA's.

I think you are exactly right - any respite is welcome and this is the way to go ahead. I am being fitted myself at the end of the month and hoping a hearing loss correction will reduce the tinnitus if perhaps not eliminating it completely. - Good luck with yours!

I've had T for 4 plus years, due to hearing loss and Meniere's disease, finally got hearing aids a few months ago. They've helped but not eliminated. Definitely something you should do if you have hearing loss and the audiologist recommends. The best help I believe is learning to habituate (not the same as learning to live with it). I went to a NHS T counsellor and he gave good explanations (though I've read it all before) that I recommend if possible.

Hi I recently been fitted with a hearing aid just Friday gone, it is brilliant I've got my hearing back and it's also reduced the pulsatile tinnitus, it's great, they have told me not to sleep with it in so the audiologist also gave me a white noise generater,it plays birds whistleing also waves crashing and rain noises, so ask your audiologist for one of these, good luck with it all I'm sure you find much improvement when you receive your hearing aid 😄

Thank you I have a audio system with pillow speakers that I am going to get set up

You do not mention white noise. You really need to get that sorted. You can download an app of an mp3 and just play into one ear, not overly load obviously.

I can't get to sleep without white noise and on those days when years are not ringing I sometimes have to use white noise at bed time as I'm so used to it.

Hi

I got fitted with my hearing aid - left side - about 4 months ago.

At first the results were very positive and it helped with the constant noise.

Unfortunately the effects have worn off and it's as if the Tinnitus has increased in intensity.

From what I have read results vary so it's definitely worth getting the hearing aids. Anything that might help with this cursed illness is worth trying
