Well, this sucks a bit.

Hi I'm Gags and about three weeks ago the ringing started in my right ear. Fantastic.

My tinnitus diagnosis goes back a bit further as first I was hearing crunching sounds, which I still hear from time to time, which the GP diagnosed. Anyway I didn't have that long to wait until the whining started, what a pain.

Anyway, thanks for the tips.

I am currently telling myself my tinnitus sound is not important, or signalling any danger, and there are other sounds I'd much rather be hearing. I'm also training myself to listen out for sounds around me that can draw my attention away. The train, traffic, a fan, the fridge, rustling paper, anything really. It seems to be working as I have found myself, ironically, hearing more sounds around me than I used to and this is starting to happen automatically, a little bit.

Each day seems a bit easier and yesterday and today I had some moments of forgetting about it, for a moment, but hopefully these periods will slowly increase. Sadly the loudest time of the day seems to be when I am home with the wife relaxing on the couch. I guess I can develop a "deaf" ear now for when it's my turn to wash up.

Reading this forum has helped me with some tips, like playing white noise quieter than the T, although I haven't been doing quite the hours suggested.

I am a software engineer for a living and have found it's the type of activity you get lost in and can distract quite effectively. If you are a bit of a nerd and find some hours "spare" in the middle of the night with nothing to do give it a try if you haven't you may find it works, and you get to build things.

I can also chime (look a T joke) what people have said about yoga. I had a couple of completely distracted moments in my class last night.

Anyway, my sympathies to you all, fellow T travellers, I wish you all less strength (of a sort) in your ear/s.
