hi, I am 9yrs post surgery for acoustic neuroma, on watch and wait as they wanted to limit damage. As well as being left deaf in left ear I have 24/7 tinnitus in dead ear, balance problems and fatigue. I am finding the tinnitus increasingly difficult to live with (ignore) so much so its making life not feel worthwhile is there any hope - break through in research maybe??

Hello I’m sorry to hear your story. I can absolutely understand what you are going through and the difficulty with coping with T. I too am really struggling with T due to AIED. Are you getting support from audiologist? I have been seeing privately a vestibular balance physiotherapist which I have found v helpful with my balance and I do exercises every day. The T is another issue. You will see others on the forum report habituation but I have not achieved it yet. Keep positive. Good luck

Hi Lizmir. My thoughts are with you, and I empathise entimely. It's a tricky condition - in causes , accompanying symptoms , affect on 'mood and ' managing / coping with '. I am learning not to judge myself against others with or without tinnitus - for some their tinnitus is equivalent to a headache, others are migraine. So it's a different thing to manage for all of us , different starting points.I can get despondent when others seem to be more successful than me at coping with it - then I tell myself ,,I'm doing as best I can in my circumstances . Please look after yourself as well as you can ☺

I'm so sorry for what you are going through! My heart breaks for you. It is entirely understandable that you want to end your suffering. Tinnitus causes extreme isolation which no sentient being deserves to go through. I hope you are managing to cope. And I hope you're not merely existing because of this tinnitus. Cochlear implants would definitely help if you have a damaged cochlear which can often cause tinnitus. Feel free to message me in the mean time!
