Hello

I have been to my doctor and told I have tinitus.

He gave me this web site for self help.

I am getting a high level noise in both ears all the time and I wonder if someone can help.

Regards Adrian

Hi Adrian and welcome to this forum. The pathway I took when I got T was - Zopiclone pills to help me sleep, Mirtazapine anti anxiety pills to calm me down, and my GP sent me to have my hearing checked at the local hospital. I was referred to an ENT consultant and had the usual scans to rule out any adverse medical conditions which may be causing the T.

I was given a hearing aid for slight hearing loss in one ear and a white noise masker for the other ear. I saw the NHS audiologist on a regular basis who was the main person to help me deal with my intrusive T. I came off the meds in the first year as I grew more calm and the tinnitus began to be less bothersome

I read everything on the BTA website (best source of information and advice) and I joined, receiving a copy of their magazine Quiet, which has news etc and also stories of how real people cope with their T.

To help with sleep I also bought a sound oasis machine from the BTA which I have on the rainfall setting every night.

Look after your ears by keeping them warm on these colder days and keep away from loudspeakers etc so as not to aggravate your T

Hopefully, your T is not permanent and will go away. I would recommend that you read the michaelee posts on this forum. as he is the most knowledgeable of we posters!

Love and best wishes, Angela cx

Totally agree with Angela. I have has Tinnitus since December 2016

I get the occasional T free day. I love it! I know its hard but relaxation is the key.

A bit of meditation Lots of stuff on Youtube. I like a neck massage with essential oils It is relaxing and takes your mind away from it. Good luck Hope you will feel relief soon x

Hi Adam, at first it was 7.5 mg, reducing to 3.75mg after about 6 weeks. Zopiclone was my first step to recovery. And, 15mg Mirtazapine an hour before bedtime. Angela xx

HI Addi22,

Many things can cause tinnitus although exposure to loud noise is the most common cause of its onset. Listening to music through headphones at high volume levels or going to places where loud music is played: clubs, concerts etc. The advice that Angela has given you is very good.

I have written an article on tinnitus that you might find helpful. If you would like me to send it to you please send me your email address. Please don't write it in the main forum. Send it to me by private message.

All the best

Michael

Just like me. I go to GP with T and the treatment is a web site. I have to say the site makes more sense than he did.

Regards.
