schoolboy error

After coming through 4 days of torture last week, my wife and I went to the cinema last night to watch Dunkirk. Big mistake, it was incredibly loud and despite being an excellent film I so wished I took ear plugs. As soon as I the film finished my head had the clangers on class A drugs holding a party. Today is no better so be warned, the film is very very loud.

I don't know what was worse, the noise or the £11.75 per person admittance fee.

Hope your OK Ade.

Good heavens that is expensive! Posh seats eh?! My fella went to see it but I think I will give it a miss as I don't want to upset the T! Angela xx

Ha ha Graham! Sorry but I don't speak that dialect, though my cousin and his family who live in Dudley speak it very well! I used to have the sing-a-long Wolverhampton accent, but after 35 years in Salop I think it has disappeared - until, that is, I meet up with my friend in Wolverhampton and then it comes back! Love, Angela xx ps I am winning at the moment, hope you are too

Glad you're winning, it's crazy that when the T is loud you prey for the default T sound to come back.

You're most likely suffering after the film ..... glad I didn't go. It will settle again ..... you are doing well after a relatively short time. I suffered dreadfully for the first 12 months and never believed I would have a normal life again. Angela xx

Hi Angela, I've had so many illnesses over the years you learn to have the 'sod it's'. The first week of this T was the worse, having this unexpected unwanted guest in my head. But then I found this site and Googling quick fix for tinnitus soon stopped and reality kicked in. I then took the advice of so many on this forum and It's a case of trying to carry on as normal and don't moan or whinge as it gets you nowhere. Hopefully I will learn to put this T in a box somewhere in my small brain one day.

Glad I took my pro plugs with me...

hi there - would you recommend the "Pro plugs" and where are they available?? Methinks I could possibly do with some generally as I have been getting by using builders' ear defenders when working but always carry some of the orange foam ear plugs .... and also needed when viewing the Dunkirk film by the "sound of the comments''...

Not heard of Pro Plugs but just googled them, ebay £11.99 or therabouts, Guitar and music shops sell them too. I will certainly test them out next time I go to the Cinema.

We also sell something very similar in the BTA shop tinnitus.org.uk/shop - plug, plug! :)

Good to hear as raging T is the pits...just been researching earplugs, does anyone have some recommendations for moulded type as use the general foam types i get from work but due to cinema experience would like to have a decent pair.

Have been to cinema since getting T but luckily for me it didnt upset my T so maybe the volumn of sound surround wasnt as loud? Did go to see guns n roses in june though, cant get much louder than this and wore my ear plugs which i purchased from the bta and havent sufferred any ill effects from gig. But being there and seeing a crowd of 80.000 made me wonder how many of them will get t as a result? Think that concert organisers should advertise protecting your hearing a bit more so more people are made aware of the dangers of being exposed to loud music and the possible consequences.

I concur 100%.we all need to find a way to continue the things we enjoyed pre T, if that means plug, aids etc then so be it. To not carry on going to gigs, cinema etc is letting T get the better of you.

I went to a Coldplay concert and thoroughly enjoyed it,
