Good morning all

After many consultations I am now taking an enema (microlax) every morning after waking up with stomach pain. Normally I have a good bowel movement within a few minutes which helps so much. However I seem to have almost constant wind throughout the day especially when I sit down in a comfy chair or settee. Has anyone suffered similar problems and found a way to alleviate the problem and the inevitable sore bottom. Thanks Ian

To me, wind is a mystery. I suddenly woke up with wind one day and it's followed the same pattern since. i.e. SO much wind comes out of me when I first get up in the morning. SO much it's actually funny. Relaxing does help wind to come out so maybe that's why you pass it more when relaxing in a comfortable chair etc.

The "funny" thing is me in the bath in the morning. At least it makes me laugh it's so ridiculous.

That happens daily no matter whether my gut is calm or upset -same thing.

Then all day...nothing, not so much as a tiny toot. I've no idea why. Perhaps just a couple of tiny toots after dinner in the evening but not even that sometimes. It seems to want to all store up to come out in the morning!

I've heard "normal" people pass wind anything from 10 to 20 times a day.

I also pass completely scent-less wind for some reason. Before IBS often it did have a scent to it. But that changed overnight literally. Mine is now just like air (?) I don't know why as I eat slowly, don't swallow air, don't talk when I eat or do things that can cause swallowed air.

At least when it comes out it doesn't get trapped. Trapped wind can be excruciating.

But it's different with you and the enemas, and IBS C. I don't know enough about the effects of enemas or laxatives.

I did find a homeopathic remedy that helped me with the pains from trapped wind sometimes. That was called "Carbo Veg". In my case it worked well to just help me pass the air that was all bottled up inside. It worked in about 20 minutes.

There's also Rennie Deflatine. Have you tried that? I haven't tried it.

I am the same cannot pass motion easy and use micro lax each day my stools are hard lumps. And yes I have a lot of wind, saw the doctor at hospital few weeks ago and just had a special X-ray of the bowel barium in the back passage then X-ray as you pass it. He thinks it might be I have a prolapse. After been diagnosed with IBS. Many tests scans cameras etc on and off for the past nearly 20 years this is the first time a doctor has suggested prolapse he said not happy with the term IBS. I am a female of 68 years and might be a weak pelvic floor. When you are constipated and the stool is not passed this can cause wind.

oh I can relate to the wind! Constant but odourless. I use WindEze pills (simeticone) after each meal which helps stop the wind building up in painful pockets.

Yes I get terrible flatulence. Worse when I gave to take Laxido. I take Windeze which dies help a bit. Its when you are alone but can be embarrassing in company. I make an excuse to walk away so that people can't hear it 😱

I must admit a daily Microlax has helped my IBS C but diverticulitis is what my consultant always says is causing the early morning pain and excessive wind. It does help knowing I am not the early one with these problems

Yeah, I've got diverticular disease (and IBS-C) as well. On doctor's orders, I take polycarbophil calcium (FiberCon) plus polyethylene glycol (Miralax). That seems to do the trick.

It did, though, involve a little trial and error. You may have to experiment a little yourself. Do you have a gastroenterologist? I'm sure they can make some recommendations.

Had real problems with constipation for years and prescribed laxatives which I’ve been taking them for a long time. I’ve now got pelvic floor dysfunction which is that the muscles in the rectum don’t work in sync. I’ve taken suppositories for it this week. Not every day but it’s now a real problem that I’m even struggling to pass gas. Does anyone know if I can use an enema and would it be effective even although I have this muscle function issue. I’ve purchased cleen ready to use enema kits and they should arrive tomorrow. Are they easy to use and how long does the evacuation feelings last please
