Long term SBRT toxicities

2 weeks post SBRT 5 sessions for low risk intermediate and the short term SEs have diminished, no longer taking the flomax and rectal issues were minimal.Are the acute/short term SEs severity a predictor for long term/ chronic SE issues?

I’m 4 years out and so far the side effects remain minimal. I did have the 12-15 month post treatment flare but I was warned about it so it wasn’t surprising. Otherwise I remain very happy with my outcome.

I am 4 months post SBRT had minimal GI side effects for 10 days. And essentially no urinary side effects. I am continuing Flomax as I had BPH prior to starting this rollercoaster ride. Have 28 days of Orgovyx left ( of 6 month total). So far it has been an easy ride. And my PSA at 3 months was 0.09, down from 7.8.

No. It's the other way around. Those who experience late term SEs have almost always experienced those same SEs acutely.

Your question is of interest because I am in almost exactly the same position. In my case it was 7 fractions rather than 5. I am 2 weeks post RT tomorrow. The side effects thus far have been minimal, and hopefully that will continue. My flow was not that great prior to the RT and I had the constant sensation of incomplete emptying of the bladder, and slower flow. I resisted taking medication and urination has mostly improved. At the rectal end it has been mostly excess wind (gas), which could have possibly been improved by a more specialised diet, but the wind too is diminishing.

I am assuming like me you did not have HT?

If I understand Tall_Allen, minimal initial side effects seems to correlate with reduced longer term side effects (which I think you were alluding to). Tall_Allen I would be interested in reading the reference on this.

Jpl506, when you mention flare at 15 months, is this PSA flare?

Not PSA flare, urinary and rectal

Flare in urinary symptoms. It was damn hard to get started a few times but it only lasted a couple of weeks. Also urgency and the feeling of incomplete emptying. I never had any rectal symptoms during or after treatment.

I finished 37 sessions of EBRT last week. I had "flares" of needing to go quite urgently for a wee or a poo. Generally only once a day for a poo, so that was OK. I had difficulty starting to pee, but was given Flomax for that which eased that somewhat. But sometimes I was getting up every hour in the night. Since finishing the EBRT, both have eased a bit. I now take the Flomax in the morning and drink less water now I don't have to super-hydrate and the night time issue has reduced to 3-4 times.
