the + or - does not matter. I’m B+
I took a type A(sub2) kidney. Yes there are two types of A kidneys. I waited only 11 months and 3 weeks since the first day of dialysis at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Was told type B kidney would be 4 to 5 years there . Was also listed at UCLA, told 7 years. Both Mayo and UCLA specialize in incompatible blood type transplants. Higher risk of complications and rejection. Dr said still better than dialysis.
Listed at Mayo April 26: transplanted June 11, last year.
If you can, go to Mayo. They do the most kidney transplants in the US. Last year a record 500 or so.

Mine was 24+ years ago (1999) and was listed at U of WI. I only had to wait 14 months back then. Now, I live in WY and the wait here at U of CO, or Salt Lake City is 5 years.
Sometimes it depends on the area you are in in the USA. Where are you listed?

What state do you live in? Depending on the area, you can be listed in more than one place. I was listed at a hospital in Milwaukee and at the U of WI in Madison.
I am within 3 hours of Iowa City, Chicago and Peoria, Illinois. I plan to register with all of them.
I suggest prioritizing which centers are of most interest to you. My hubby was listed at two and the logistics was almost overwhelming since one required blood draws on a different schedule from the other (as well as an additional test), he had other doctors to visit locally for other health conditions, and he had to work with dialysis too. He was kept really busy trying to fit everything in while also working his business part time. Some centers also have better statistics so it may not be worthwhile going to some of them. (As anticipated, the center with the better stats came through for us, he would still be waiting today at the other.) See srtr.org/transplant-centers... This one shows results by blood type transplantcoach.com/ However, if you have the time and interest (also blood in my hubby's case, lol), three or more may work well for you. We are all different.

My spouse waited 18 months for his kidney transplant
I'm B-. I waited just over 9 months. I was called as a 5th back up. Between the time I got on the plane and arrived 3 hours later in the big city, 3 in front of me dropped out due to one reason or another. That was a lot shorter than I was told to expect.
I'm B+ and have been on the transplant list for four years, and 10 months. Had several calls but in the end the available kidneys never made it out of the testing phase. I was recently told by the nurse coordinator for the transplant team it normally takes about 5 years for a B+ patient. I'm in PA.
hello I have AB positive and it took me about 3 1/2 years to get a kidney transplant. I don’t know if B positive is harder to get. I have an AB positive donor.
I got on the kidney transplant list in November 2018, started dialysis December 2019 and received a kidney transplant from a young, non-living donor on May 6, 2021. I was so very grateful for him and his family. It was during covid so many hospitals stopped transplants periodically. I was very careful and took care of myself the best I could to have a better chance in getting a kidney. When I first got on the list, so many people came forward in my family and friends but they all backed out for different reasons. It was discouraging at first but they get scared which is ok. I kept praying and hoping for a miracle. Peritoneal dialysis was hard on me. But I decided to live the best I can and enjoy the life I had. Little children and babies suffer from cancer. Just when I accepted that I will get one when it’s my time and what’s best for me, I got the call. I didn’t answer at first because it’s an out of state number and it looked like a scam number. If it wasn’t for my grand daughter answering the call, I wouldn’t have got it. It was around 8 pm. I’ll never forget it.
