Hot weather running...and using the gym!πŸ™‚

I missed a couple of runs recently due to a virus, so made the decision not to do a local 10k event today (returned to my running last Wednesday). Instead I opted for a 7k on the trails, reckoning that the shade would be beneficial, given how warm it has been. I always find it takes me a bit of time to get used to the heat as the temperatures rise!πŸ₯΅

It was certainly warming up by the time I got out but I slowed things down and the heat was...okay.

However, I soon realised that I was probably still recovering from Fridays gym session, as my legs really didn’t feel up to much! I guess this was to be expected really, as it was my first time in the gym for 20 years!πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ€£ I loved my time there and am planning to incorporate it in to my exercise schedule with the hope that it will benefit my running. 🀞Today however, I just felt my tired quads, which made the run feel like a bit of a slog! Of course, maybe it was just one of those runs! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Never mind, onwards and upwards…and run complete. Here’s hoping that we now get a few slightly cooler days before the inevitable heat of the summer! 🌞

Happy running this week, everyone.πŸ™‚

Well done on the gym session. It could be the gym or could even still be the virus making you feel tired. There's a very high probability the next one will be much better, and in the meantime you have another run under your belt. Of course it also proves you made the right choice stepping out of the Gatwick 10k 😊

I saw you had opted out of your event Sandra, still managing a 7k trail run in these temperatures is fantastic. The gym work and heat may have sapped your energy, but you got out there and ran which is to be congratulated! Well done you!πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸͺ»xxx

It sounds as if that gym session worked a treat Sandra! The virus could still be hanging around too.

I find the warmer weather so hard going and my legs always feel more sluggish than they do in winter. I know you prefer winter too. I just get used to the warmer conditions when autumn beckons πŸ™„

You did well to run considering that you are recovering from a virus πŸ‘ Yes, I also struggle in the warm weather but apparently back to cooler and wet weather tomorrow!
