Hello, just wanted peoples opinions. I had a day 3 transfer on the 30th of April and had my beta blood test yesterday which has come back as 60.8. My clinic would like me to do another blood test tomorrow morning. She said she’s ‘cautiously optimistic’ but when I look at the range for beta results I feel as though 60.8 is quite low 😕 soooo just looking for a bit of reassurance or whether I should prepare for a different outcome! I didn’t get the overwhelming feeling to test during my TWW but am actually finding this part more stressful 😅
Thanks

The number itself doesn't tell you much at this stage as there's such a big range, it's whether it's roughly doubling in 2/3 days. Hopefully when you get it repeated that will put your mind at rest.
hi! Congrats on your BFP. What cycle day was your test on? If it was today would that make you about 4 wks and 3 days? I know usually they like the number to be at >40 your first test at 2 weeks post ovulation so 11 days post 3 day transfer but timing on implantation can be variable. I’ve had several miscarriages where my initial numbers were over 100 and 300 but not successful. My cousin had a 5 day FET and her initial number was also in the 60s like you and she now has a healthy 4 yr old, So I think the day of your test plays a role not sure if they tested late? Maybe that’s why cautious? However the only thing you can do is see if number about doubles on 24 hr follow up test. Regardless of initial number, which can be on the low side for people, it’s the progression that matters. My friend also started off with a 45 and her next text it was over 100. Fingers crossed for you! I have my test this Friday!
Thanks for your reply! The test was yesterday so I believe it was exactly 4 weeks. I’m really sorry to hear of your miscarriages it actually didn’t occur to me that you could have high numbers to start with and still be at risk, although I guess I just hadn’t really thought that far ahead!
I guess I’ll have a slightly better idea tomorrow. Sending positive vibes for Friday!! 💛
Hey my first number 10 days past a 5 day transfer was 54 and it only rose to 72 3 days later but I am now 16.5 weeks pregnant so I would definitely be cautiously optimistic. Everyone is different so I wouldn’t worry too much about the actual number. Good luck for your next blood test hope the wait goes quick for you I know how it feels being in limbo land xx
Thanks for sharing and congratulations! I’m trying to channel the ‘what will be will be’ vibe but not doing very well 😂 just got home from my blood test so now I just need to sit tight for the next few hours till I get a call! X
Thank you! Just wanted to share to give you hope and let you know that we aren’t all textbook. Have you had the call? Really hoping it’s increased for you will keep my fingers tightly crossed it’s such a difficult journey xx
Yes I found the HcG tests and waiting so stressful! My first HCG at 10 days was only 20. My doctor reassured me that the number is not as important, but rather the fact that it is increasing at an appropriate rate. Mine continued to rise albeit slowly and we now have a two year old!
That’s amazing!! They sort of implied the chances of success when it’s a low number is non existent but clearly not! Did your number double every few days?
Omg no way! That’s terrible! My doctor wasn’t concerned at all and he’s an amazing fertility doctor. He did give me some stronger steroids (dexmethasone) so perhaps worth asking?? I don’t think it doubled every few days. It stressed me out so much I told them to stop telling me the number but I saw it accidentally and at one point it was in its 30s. I have to say my dr still wasn’t too worried.
hi DLZ321, I had a blood test yesterday which was 12dp a 5 day fresh transfer of 2 embryos. My HCG is 32.4 and I think it’s all over for me. I feel like you’re in a really grey area though being double that. I would definitely persevere and hope your little one decides to stick and those numbers double very soon. Sending you love cxx
Hey, based on Sansan87 you could be good too! Do you have another blood test booked in for tomorrow? Guess we just have to sit tight. I really hope your numbers start doubling too! 💕 genuinely finding this the worst part of it all so far..
I have results from Monday and Tuesday now and they are unfortunately halving so it’s not my happy ending this month. Really praying for positive news for you xxx
I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve also had my results back now and unfortunately it’s gone down to 51 so I won’t have my happy ending either this was my first transfer so I guess it would have been too good to be true! I hope you’re okay xx
I know, I really was sooo surprised. Anyway, bit of a rubbish day for us both but you’re right - looking at it as a practice run definitely helps. It’s some progress at least - it’s the first time in my life I’ve ever seen a positive pregnancy test 😂 was this your first transfer? Xx
No it’s actually the 11th pregnancy for me in my 36 years on earth with 3 live births to date:-
1 naturally conceived & natural birth
6 miscarriages
1 naturally conceived after being diagnosed with an under active thyroid then treated & fell successfully pregnant & kept 3 weeks after diagnosis & medication - emergency section resulting in secondary infertility
IVF journey begins
1 cancelled cycle, 1 failed cycle then my baby boy from a double transfer but lost one embryo early - planned section
7 cancelled cycles, 2 failed transfers with ? Clinic
2 egg collections - 1 transfer and todays chemical pregnancy
A roller coaster of emotions but rewarding none the less. I’m feeling it all much more now in my older years. I always thought I would have lots of babies close together but it takes me on average 7 years between each one to fall pregnant again. I’m not sure if I should just give up now but put so much in the last 2 years I’m desperate to complete us xxx
Oh wow - definitely sounds like a rollercoaster!! You’re clearly a very mentally (and physically) strong person. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you mean by secondary infertility due to emergency c section?
I also have an underactive thyroid and after literally a year of wild fluctuation finally stabilised a few months back with increased medication. Sadly no natural surprises as yet though - this was my first positive in 33 years!
Amazing that you have a little gang of three 💕 it sounds like you’re not ready to give up. Here’s to our next transfer being the successful one 💪🏼🙌🏼xx
My emergency section was very complicated and the scar is very big and in the shape of a T as baby had got to 9.5cm dilated. As a result I ended up with a niche on the inside which basically collects fluid in my uterus & is toxic to embryos & sperm etc, I have had it repaired surgically twice now which has solved that problem but then all the surgery results in a thin lining now 😭 honestly it’s never ending problems, I can only deliver by planned section now so I’ve been warned this has to be my last because I’ve technically had 4 c-sections already (2 births & 2 repairs). You wouldn’t believe it but after all that I’m still scared of needles and blood 🤣 xxx
Also keep an eye on that thyroid! Mine goes wild when I get pregnant and I need more thyroxine so as soon as you get your next bfp get your tsh bloods done because that can cause loss if they are not under control xxx
Yeah I learnt this relatively recently when I went to see an endocrinologist privately - she had said to immediately up my dose from 100 to 125 with a positive test. Good thing she did because there was no mention of it from my clinic and I wouldn’t have known any different!
Final beta tomorrow morning 😒 looking forward to knowing when I can stop these pessaries!
oh my gosh that sounds like… a lot! I absolutely do not believe you are scared of needles and blood 😂 you are literally so brave to have gone through all that and still be on this journey. I’ll remember all your hurdles next time I have a wobble! Xx
Sorry to hear not your happy ending as of yet. Good luck on next cycle! I just took my HPT which came back a very faint positive 9 days post FET blood test not til Friday though. I’m being cautiously optimistic as I’ve had several miscarriages in the past and one toddler at home from a FET 3 yrs ago.
