Peripheral neuropathy without diabetes

I have peripheral neuropathy of the feet. Doctors cannot find a reason. I do not have diabetes nor autoimmune issues. Nothing is helping me. I am desperately trying to find out the cause and to find something to help minimize or eliminate the pain and numbness.

I got this 2 weeks after getting my covid shots

I have also developed some peripheral neuropathy which started during an episode of heart failure and over medication with BP meds although I have had cold feet for several years. I would look at your medication which you haven’t listed. I hadn’t had a covid shot since spring 2022 so I can be sure that wasn’t the cause.

My peripheral neuropathy started after radiation for breast cancer (and I already had autoimmune issues). It is creeping up to my knees. My feet and legs are always cold, not to the touch, but inside. I wear socks to bed. I wish I knew what I could do to keep it from progressing.

Hi laurel,

I am 76 and have had variable levels of pain and numbness from feet neuropathy for at least 15 years now. But I recently decided to request a medical investigation into this during a period of much worse pain and numbness during a particularly hot period of weather. As a result my B12 levels were tested, at my request, but didn't show the deficiency which can be a cause of such neuropathy. So I received no resolution, but I am able to live with it, which, I appreciate, might not be possible for others with more serious pain and numbness.

So I was forced back to understanding that my feet neuropathy, as I have always assumed (perhaps wrongly?), was a result of poor peripheral circulation.

Now, if you understand astrology, you will know that the bodily weakness associated with Aquarius is poor peripheral circulation. And I am an Aquarian, and have had cold hands and feet all my life. Go figure! 🤔

Sorry I have no resolution. I hope others have more helpful suggestions.

Bob

Addendum: I'm not saying you need to be an Aquarian to have poor peripheral circulation.

PN can be caused by various drugs. I have it after being floxed ( bad reactions to a Fluoroquinolone antibiotic) . I find it comes and goes but has diminished over time.Mine takes the form of stabbing pains like somebody has pricked me with a needle. It is quite possible the covid jabs have provoked it. It might take time for it to subside. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Me too. No reason. But I found a study about a young man who got neuropathy shortly after his COVID booster, and was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin, with success. I showed it to my neurologist, and he felt it justified the blood test for FGFR3 antibodies (that are the telltale reaction to the shot), but I was negative, so dead end. Now stopping flecainide prescribed as pip to see if that rare connection is the cause. Fingers crossed. At least mine is not painful like the diabetes version. I hope you get some relief. Also tried TENS and red light therapy, which may have slowed it a bit, but not sure. Good luck!!
