I'm thinking it depends what sort of HRT dose you are on, are you doing a blood test to check levels before stopping and to see how balanced they are? It's possible it might mean a small adjustment is needed to your thyroid dose as this is often the case when starting on HRT
Im 22 yrs post hysterectomy and Im still on HRT and will continue as I believe it has helped keep my bones healthy and without HRT I can only imagine how bad they would be and it has kept my HDL at a higher level most menopausal women will naturally get lower HDL which isn’t good for heart disease so Im told. I have never done testosterone or progesterone I was told you don’t need it.
I was told to stop HRT when a suspicious lump was found in my breast. I agreed as I did not think the HRT was doing anything.
Two weeks down the line I turned into a beetroot sweaty dragon, with a deep fury for everything! I went back on them quickly, told the GP never again. Lump turned out to be a cyst.
I started HRT over 20 years ago. I have never had a blood test for those hormones, ever! There was a shortage a couple of years ago and the GP put me on a different one, the chemist told me this would make me bleed monthly. No way was I doing that at nearly 70. I marched straight back to the GP, he saw the glint in my eye and rang round for my usual HRT, which then appeared as if by magic!
