Hi, I lived in the US for over 20 years and was prescribed Synthroid for underactive Thyroid. I found that the generic levothyroxine brand was not effective. I have moved back to the UK and would like to find a brand that is as close to Synthroid as possible. Would appreciate any recomendations.
Thanks!

My UK document lists all the products that are available.
There are several ways in which UK products differ from Synthroid:
Only a small range of dosages is available in the UK;
No UK products contain any colouring agents;
Getting a specific product is not always achievable. The prescriptions are usually just for Levothyroxine and the product supplied will depend on the pharmacy.
Asking for a prescription to state a specific product is possibly not a good idea before you have tried it.
Synthroid contains lactose and acacia. The only UK product that contains acacia and lactose is from Advanz Pharma but is potentially available packaged as Levothyroxine or Eltroxin (they are identical). But there seems no basis to positively try to get a product containing acacia or lactose!
Some members find Teva good. While others do not tolerate it at all.
Note that the Accord product in the UK is not the same as the USA Accord product.
