I’d love to know the answer to this, my sister did an all natural peri to menopause on sage tea and cannabis, unfortunately the department for education may not approve of me doing the same 🤣
Hope you don’t mind me asking, what made you stop HRT? I had to I was bleeding too heavily twice a month and they realised I’d been misdiagnosed but a few years on and am probably back. The peri game again. 🌱
I'm now post menopause, and Wellsprings Serenity Progesterone cream got me through pre and full menopause. I had no symptoms of menopause at all whilst on the cream. I really don't know how folk don't know about it, particularly as it's a natural product. I would never ever have touched HRT... it's not a natural product. I started with hypo aged 30 so was on mainly T3.
Are you on an estrogen only hrt? I thought it was estrogen only that causes womb thickening. I had three operations to remove womb polyps while I was on estrogen. Not a single doctor suggested changing to a combi hrt of estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen dominance is very bad for thyroid function. I often wonder if I would have developed thyroid problems at all if I hadn’t been left on estrogen only hrt for so long.
Did you only use the progesterone and not the oestrogen too? Why not both? How are they able to sell without prescription? I’m really interested but have more and more questions, sorry 😬
I'm also post menupausal, I had full thyroidectomy in 2019 and was assured all my symptoms would go... Sweating profusely, tremors, insomnia, all that comes with graves.
But... The sweating, the tremors the insomnia, fatigue have not gone 😔 I sweat for England 😥 STILL... my surgeon noticed after my thyroidectomy I still had some symptoms of overactivity and lowered my thyroid drug from 125mg to 100mg, this he did again the next time I saw him, as again he said I looked hyper.
He then put me back to gp care, and quite frankly I've struggled since all gps I've see saying I was over medicated... I certainly was not!
But in 2020 my pth and calcium went over active 🤦♀️ it's took me to seek out a private parathyroid surgeon who as got me sorted along with a great endocrinologist in Liverpool.. I have primary hyperparathyroidism with 3 little gremlins lighting up👍.
Sorry for the long story 😔 but I honestly thought part of my symptoms may be menupausal, I've been trying to see a menupausal specialist in my area but have be told there are no menupausal clinic's in my town, if I want to discuss the menupause I'd need to see a gp.
With all that's been going on with me health wise and travelling back and forth to Oxford (parathyroid surgeon) and Liverpool (endocrinologist) I've been trying repeatedly to get an appointment with a gp... Do appointment's exist anymore 😠.
After bugging my surgerys receptionists who were of no help I went to another surgery just round the corner from mine, spoke to a lovely lady who said much the same" you have to see a gp"
But after that talk a message appeared on my phone from my surgery saying an appointment as be made for me on sep 13th with a gp to discuss my menupausal issues 😯.
Anyway let me get to the point.. I can't take the pill form of HRT but we're willing to try the gel to see if it gave me any relief from these symptoms.
The endo in Liverpool says some symptoms can be parathyroid related also, but I'm willing just to give it a go.. Just until I get the gremlins removed (waiting list for parathyroid surgery can be up to 12 months 😔).
But this cream you've mentioned, it worked for you and as you say it's natural 👍 I don't pay for prescriptions, but I bet if I ask for a natural remedies, the NHS won't prescribe it😢
NHS will prescribe body identical Lenzetto, Oestrogel and Testogel but you need to request them as they tend to give you the cheapest tablets then patches first... Utrogestan is the standard micronised body identical progesterone offering
It's well worth doing your research and telling them what you want!
Unfortunately Wellsprings was hopeless for me, I persevered for over six months in inside of wrist and it never touched the hot flushes tiredness etc. It was as a last resort 12 months on I went to consultant as I felt so ill and was running a small busy hotel and cooking was killing me, that the lovely consultant told me progesterone only would never make me any better as after a hysterectomy at 29 ( womb out ovaries in ) I needed oestrogen only and prescribed Livial especially for people like me. It saved my life and my business I might add. As always it doesn't suit everyone.
Like Regenallotment my sister also sailed through menopause (with Clary Sage and Black cohosh) but it frankly this did nothing for me. Thankfully in my case HRT has been a godsend and had alleviated all my peri menopause symptoms. I’ve also found I need slightly less thyroid medication with HRT, but know that others report they’ve needed slightly more.
Hello, I live in Switzerland and my gynecologist gave me cimifemine forte about a year ago, it has worked wonders- no more hot flashes, crying or rage issues. It’s a plant based medicine, I believe its main ingredient is black cohort. I am not sur if it’s available in the UK, but I would definitely recommend it!
Yes, thank you for the correction. I know that some doctors are reluctant to prescribe it, my sister lives in Australia and explained that it isn’t prescribed over there.
A great option is : Body Identical hormones....My GP suggested I see a consultant and then he will prescribe after the initial lot of hormones ( Spent £300 on Consultation and over £200 on creams ) Now my GP is prescribing them Good Luck
I am prescribed bio identical HRT on the NHS. I use Oestrogel (made from Yams), Utrogestan (also made from Yams) and Testogel(not sure what this is made from and most women would not need it - I do at higher doses than most).
I had to have an investigation after I had some bleeding, and as a result I was prescribed two daily capsules of Utrogestan (progesterone) and that sorted it out.
I originally went to a private clinic, (as Valeriu says, about £300 for initial consultation) who were happy to write to my GP to take over the prescribing (including for Testogel, which the NHS can prescribe, but are not keen) and when I had the problems with bleeding had another consultation with the private clinic, who backed up what my GP had already suggested, but wanted expert advice on (my GP is excellent on this, but obviously lacked confidence).
The clinic I went to: The Newson Clinic, have been running a campaign with the NHS and going around all Health Authorities to train their GPs and get the CCCs to prescribe.
Sadly GPs have even less training on menopause than they do on Thyroid problems!!
I don't know your full situation but take it you have had endometrial hyperplasia. If you are well versed with the likes of Louise Newson then i'm sure you have done your research but sometimes ladies don't have to come off hrt and are given the wrong information. I'm sorry if I'm speaking out of turn with this but see it so often that ladies are denied or taken off it due to poorly educated GP's and specialist.
I saw a fantastic private endocrinologist who is a amazing menopause specialist. She also has interest in non hrt therapy.
Also there is a fb group who promote progesterone therapy. Hope some of this is of help
I'm hypothryroid. At menopause I had a few weeks of night sweats and hot flushes and then I obtained an info sheet from tpauk.com/main/article/natu... and took it to my NHS GP who, as a result, prescribed ProJuven natural progesterone cream for me. I was then as right as rain . Good luck!
Wellsprings did nothing for me when the perimenopause hit me like a freight train - needed industrial strength stuff from GP. Was on it for years then lowered dose to half strength patch and norethisterone tablet at 5mg. After years on that I'm going to have to think of coming off, so might be able to use Wellsprings effectively. I don't suppose you could try the low dose estradiol patch and progesterone cream as a halfway house? It's really horses for courses, I'm afraid. Good luck with the hunt.
