Thyroid Gland Swelling etc...

Hi,

I think my thyroid gland may be a little inflamed. Over the past 4 - 5 days the area around my gland has felt a little achy.

It comes and goes, and is not painful, but I am aware of a slight ache. I doesn't seem to have worsened and doesn't show any visual signs of inflammation, and it is not painful to touch. Swallowing can make it ache a little.

My last blood tests from July showed under range TGab, slightly elevated TPOab and low level of inflammation. Obviously this could of changed in the last few weeks.

I've recently started T3/T4 combination therapy again, the first 4 weeks were tough with a major increase in symptoms but things have clamed a little now and I am feeling a little better than when I was on levothyroxine alone.

I am GF & dairy free, but the stress of the last 4 weeks has been quite bad as I was very worried at times. I have just gone back to the gym, so the ache could be from that.

I had an ultrasound in earlier in the year. Not active inflammation.

Does anyone have any experience of this? What should I do if it continues or gets worse?

joey, you don’t use a CPAP machine by any chance? Mine is making me very dry (I think that’s the culprit). Started with noticing swallowing not quite right. It’s giving me pain around my ‘glands’ (like pulling on muscles) and more recently right up into my ears. I am trying to get a machine with a better humidifier. Otherwise I am in the same boat as you and I will have to speak to my GP. A fat lot of good it will do. Sleep clinic much better at handling queries.
