Bit of Good news...and some Advice

Hello All,

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to sunshine and summer holidays...

I have some good news to share to lift the spirits of people...

Currently I am on 100mcg T4 and 10mcg T3 (Thybon Henning).

Recently, friends at work and gym say I look better. I think I lost some fat because my old clothes are beginning to fit better. Also a few of them said my skin looks better. Honestly, I can't say.

In regards to fat loss, I have upped my cardio and started to skip rope instead of steady state cardio. But my view is most of the fast loss is due to my T3.

I have been going to gym 3-4 times a week with a mix of strength training and cardio for more than a year. Diet control and getting sleep is a challenge especially the former.

I'm still struggling with symptoms but I think it could due to insulin resistance . I am hoping to bring it down in the next blood tests.

Some of the symptoms:

- Craving for sugary foods in the afternoon /evening.

- Sometimes blurred vision and dizziness especially in the evening.

There is a history of diabetes in my paternal family. So I'm worried about it. I am hoping to increase my T3 to 15mcg or 20mcg in the next appointment with my endo.

I would be interesting to find out if anyone had positive experience with T3 with regards to their skin.

Last blood test results here: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Any thoughts, suggestions welcome.

Great news about improvements on combination treatment! 👍

Do you have any recent thyroid blood test results to share BookLover 2020? This would help members in advising if an increase in medication might help with ongoing symptoms.

What skin issues are you having?

Have you experienced any other symptoms that may indicate a risk of diabetes, such as increased need to pass water at night? If so, I’d definitely get this tested at the GP as so much can be done with an early diagnosis.

There is definitely room to increase your thyroid medication. I’ve found adding an extra 5mcg Liothyronine in the afternoon really helpful at giving me a boost (I take 10mcg on the morning with my Levo). It is very much trial and error as we all have different’sweet spots’. For me, FT3 higher in range and FT4 mid range is a good combination (at present).

Thank you.

Nothing in particular, its' just that people have commented I look better.

Could be because my face looks thinner after the fat loss.

I don't have any of the symptoms that you mentioned at the moment. But given the family history, I think I need to be careful especially with my diet.

Thank you. I will ask for an increase of at least 5mcg T3 in my next appointment.

Do you think it's worth moving to a pure T3 at some point or stay at

T4/T3?

As per advice from tattybogle I would retest levels before considering any adjustments. I hadn’t realised your last set of readings were prior to an increase in medication.

just a heads up Buddy195 . those results were from taking 100mcg Levo +5mcg T3.

a) the last dose of T3 + levo was 24 hrs+ before that test , so that fT3 is a false low ,

b) further down that post , it seems BookLover2020's dose was increased to 10mcg T3 following those result ?

and I don't think we have any results from that dose yet.

So current 'true' fT3 level, on current dose of 10mcg T3 , is presumably significantly higher than that December test shows.

You are right tatty; I hadn’t read the entire post to realise this. BookLover2020 is best advised to retest levels before considering any adjustment.

Great to hear things are on the up 🤗 I found I lost a lot of fluid (mucin) from my skin which was very firm and hard once I started T3... I literally peed 5 kilos of fluid away in 5 weeks! Kidney function improved as did my bordering pre-diabetic levels

That's great to hear!

Was this after you started T3?

Yep, in the first 5-6 weeks I thought I'd never stop going! But once my system had dealt with the backlog of stored fluid everything settled down 😅 I went from 72 to 67kgs it's remarkable how your body can turn things around when given what it needs, I think our skin is a great window on our overall health, mine is back to being supple and smooth

craving for food and dizziness are signs of over medication in my experiences. Do you have your latest bloods.

your blood results from last Dec seem ok. Have you increased your meds at all since then.

Thank you. I haven't had any blood test after my T3 was increased to 10mcg.

I will post it once I had done the tests.

sugar cravings in afternoon could be from your workout and might try having a little snack.

Thank you Batty1. Yes, I think it's very much possible. Any recommendations for a healthy snack?

I would definitely do something that has protein and some carbs… but that’s really a trial and error as to what works for you.
