hi,

I had a baby in September and was suffering with anxiety, night sweats, insomnia and increase heart rate, I went to the GP and they found my

TSH - 0.008mU/L (0.570’- 3.6)

Free T4 - 28.4pmol/L (7.9 -14)

TPO - 450 (0 - 9)

I saw a consultant privately and he prescribed me carbinazole which I never took as I’d felt a ‘shift’ in my body and my resting heart rate had decreased considerably. In December I started to feel tired so went back to the GP who retested my thyroid and my results were

TSH - 42.060 mU/L (0.570 - 3.6)

Free T4 - 2.4 pmol/L (7.9 - 14)

The GP started me on 125mcg levo and I’ve been on it for 3 weeks. I spoke to the consultant and he said I’ve got hashimotos and my thyroid may never recover.

my results are going in the right direction

TSH - 28.270 mU/L (0.570 - 3.6)

T4 - 9.3 pmol/L (7.9 - 14)

However, I feed extremely stiff and my muscles feel so weak and sore, even my fingers hurt and I’m finding it hard to even hold my baby let alone feed her or change her.

I’m worried it’s more than my thyroid and that I’ve got another autoimmune condition as I feel like I’m getting worse, despite cutting out gluten and soy, starting on meds and my TSH and T4 improving. I’ve also gained nearly a stone in 2 months

Has anyone else had these symptoms with hashimotos?

Thanks

oh you poor thing it’s so tough. Give the Levo and your poor body time. It could be 8 or 10 weeks before you settle. Test again then and see how it’s going. Try not to change too much all at once, it really messes with your body’s responses.

In the meantime, Have a read of Izabella Wentz, her diet protocols really helped me. I have all three books , there is overlap but they are all useful. Her website is also good. Www.thyroidpharmacist.com but remember introduce changes slowly, a few weeks apart and one at a time.

Can you call in support networks to help you? You will need rest which is impossible with a new babe to care for. I had two under 3 in a similar situation 19 years ago. I really feel for you.

You are in the right track, you can get tested for other conditions, I’m also lactose intolerant. Autoimmune does tend to be a collectors club.

Hope you start to feel better soon 🌱🦋🌱

thank you for your reply, yes I’ve read Izabellas book and also watched her series on hashimotos. She convinced me that gluten and soy must go. I’m praying it’s not another autoimmune condition and it’s all due to my thyroid and my meds will kick in soon. I do have loads of support, which I’m so thankful ❤️

it’s going to take at least 6-8 weeks for levothyroxine to settle

Thyroid levels need retesting after 6-8 weeks

Book early morning test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Which brand of levothyroxine have you started on

Many people find different brands are not interchangeable

Have you had vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels tested via GP yet

If not request included at next test

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

You could test vitamin D now

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

vitamindtest.org.uk
