wondering if I have long covid
Are you also hypothyroid? A friend of mine had long COVID and was continually being tested for hypo, given that there is some quite overlap in terms of brain fog and general exhaustion.Loss of taste and smell not a hypo thing, to my knowledge. What would you like to ask the forum?
Yes, I have heard this can continue and they were recommending contact with the GP so that it is known although, there is little treatment. Hopefully, it will be temporary. Does everything still taste horrible? My husband's sense of smell isn't as good as it was but has improved since March. Do you have any other symptoms of Long Covid?
Hi, my daughter who's 27 had covid last march and felt really ill.Tired, having to sleep alot, high temperature and sweats, headache, sinus pain, pressure on chest, loss of taste and smell.Still now she says she's not back to normal. She gets breathless, has quite bad brain fog but her main problem is terrible acid reflux, feeling a pressure in her chest as if her stomach is up really high and excessive burping. She never had these problems before. In fact I don't think I've heard her burp since she was a baby.It really is bad and she can't stop it.She's adamant it's the covid and really there is no other explanation.I think she's resigned herself it's something she has to live with.As she says we really have no idea how peoples bodies are being affected long term and that is a worry.
Hi,On the belching side of things, could well be acid reflux..stomach related, not lungs but can cause considerable chest pressure. Stress doesn’t help either. Sounds like she needs to speak her gp about all, making sure all symptoms are expressed. Hope she feels better soon x
I understand from what I’ve read that these things can happen after any viral infection not just Covid-19. It might be worth looking up post-viral problems. I take it that her vitamin D is optimal. Good luck.
An interesting post, as I've been wondering the same thing. My husband and myself were both very unwell while we were on holiday in Orlando at the endo of February. My husband had a persistent cought - never has a cough! I kept getting very out of bread and had to keep stopping to catch my breath while out walking. I lost my sense of taste completely but for only 24 hours and then it was back to normal. We were both really tired. When we got home, we found out that two of my sons who we see frequently had also been ill for the two weeks we were away. A week after we got back, my husband was over the tiredness, but he keeps getting confused about the simplest things - never had that before! I was really tired for three weeks - went to bed every afternoon and slept for two to four hours. Since then I've been really tired and really struggled with breathing. My peak flow has remained very low. My two sons have fully recovered as has a girlfriend who was also ill. I've been wondering if my husband and I have long covid. As it was too early for a confirmed diagnosis with us, I was wondering if there is anything we can do?Incidentally, I had ruled this out as I had a few weeks during the first lockdown when I was really, really well and then suddenly my breathing problem started with a vengence. But then I read symptoms of long covid can go completely for days, weeks or even months and then return. So may be I am suffering with it. Unfortunately, so little is known about it, I don't know of any help out there. Does anyone else?
I thought that was likely to be the case! I still consider myself very lucky. My husband is convinced it was just jet lag. I can't get that at all as jet lag never lasts the entire holiday plus over a week after returning. Guess it's his way of dealing!!
