What test have you done to determine iodine deficiency?
What were the results?
If you supplement iodine it should be under the guidance of an experienced practioner as there is a protocol and companion nutrients needed.
Susie is spot on. I supplemented with iodine by accident ~it was added into a multi I was taking. It was the start of my worst problems. Iodine should be taken only if needed and in precise amounts.
Is your hypothyroidism caused by iodine deficiency?
So why take iodine if you don't even know you're deficient.
If you are deficient your GP should give you the supplement or send you to an endocrinologist who understands it..
I was given lugols iodine when I was having a thyroid storm when severely hypothyroid so it can block the thyroid so its not something to mess with..
Hi, Did you mean hyperthyroid? I don’t know much about these storms, I thought it was when you went hyperthyroid. Thank you, Catherine
Yes sorry seriously Hyperthyroid and they use lugols to block the thyroid in emergencies, , so its not something I would personally mess with, it should be under drs orders only, I see some on other groups wondering why the TSH has gone to 7,
I have also seen someone not very well taking Iodine when they were on Levothyroxine....
But if someone is deficient I would imagine the DR should give the iodine not just do it yourself, I also had a severe allergic reaction to the iodine so be carefulx
Are you currently taking any levothyroxine?
