As I was shopping for supplements, and with the doctor not upping my meds atm, I saw a supplement 'Thyroid support formula' which has various vitamins and iodine, so bought to take daily. However is this OK to take alongside levo? Product info in the attached pic.
Thanks.

Gawd, I'm not doing well with this supplement lark! Why would they market a supplement for Thyroid health if it contains things that can muck up the absorption of the useful stuff?
I'll go on Amazon for something with Selenium that might actually help.
I'm kicking myself really as I read selenium on the front and Thyroid support and thought I'd found the right thing. Didn't read the ingredients... What a idiot!
In terms of selineum, the better version is as selenomethionine, right? In this case I bought selenium with something as it was the only one that said selenium and I mistakenly thought I'd made a good choice.
I had B12 and vit D tested, but understood selenium to be of benefit from various posts so was going to take that and see if it helps.
I've just looked at your previous post. Are you doing anything about the supplements suggested there?
Selenium can help with conversion of T4 to T3, and yes selenium l-selenomethionine is the recommended form.
Don't buy anything that says "Thyroid support" as they usually contain iodine or kelp (which is Iodine). They will stimulate the thyroid temporarily and likely cause further problems.
Yeah, so I've started VitD3 (5000 IU). I had stopped the B12 but as the doc wasn't being helpful I may restart that again. Folic acid I need to look into (I read elsewhere on this forum something about staggering supplements rather than starting to take lots of new ones at the same time). I'm sure that's what was recommended.
Yes you should stagger them when starting supplements. Start with one, leave it 2 weeks, then add the second one in, leave it 2 weeks, then add the next one, etc. That way if there is any adverse reaction you will know what caused it.
What’s the difference between b12 cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin. My b12 blood test was at low end and I’ve been taking B12 (as cyanocobalamin) 😬. Thanks!
This article explains it very well, if you don't want to read it all scroll down to "WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN METHYLCOBALAMIN AND CYANOCOBALAMIN?"
That's what's generally used in injections, is that what you get? Apparently it's the natural form of B12. There is no problem as far as I know. Cyanocobalamin is cheap which is why it's used in poor quality, cheap supplements, it needs to convert to methylcobalamin.
