I doubt it would have made any difference to my first endo appt. today. He listened, was unhurried then said " what he would say I would not want to hear".
Toft was just one voice, some chap in the Midlands had made a lot of money treating folk who had non thyroid problems. This turned out to be Dr Skinner. With TSH of 0.33 and Ft3 & ft4 in range my symptoms that remained must be caused by something else despite not having them 2 years ago! Upping my dose could lead to long term damage to heart or osteoporosis. I said at 70 in a few months I was not bothered about long term as he might be if hypo. Still no deal.
So nowt he could do and back to GP. Will try the one I started with back from illness as I reckon the one who referred me was giving me the bums rush after I had deposited various docs. From this site on him.
Only entertainment was the brand new building in its second day and its IT screens for telling them you have reached the ground floor reception then the same for the second floor and lots of staff hanging about to help folk, just like the supermarkets. Then the screen asking people to go to a room and the staff sending them in the wrong direction so the screen gets a name filling it entirely in colour ,like a sat Nav when you do not follow its orders!
Staff muttering that they had to get the docs to tell the "Sat Nav "that the patient had arrived at their room!
lol Sounds like fun! But not the interview, of course. What a duffer! Totally thyroid illiterate! So what are you going to do? Self treat?
Moving that way ,will continue with my multi vitamins and other supplements for a while yet. See what first GP reckons in a month or so.
Decided when first diagnosed I would give it a year before considering NDT.Its clear from posts here that NDT can be tricky to get the right brand and quantity and I do not want to be worse before my planned holidays this year.
Canaries for some sun, and near year end Falklands and Ascension for the birds which is spending the kids inheritance so need to be fit enough.
True ,my thyroid is "working properly" but no response to "what is causing my symptoms" ,useless.May consider going private.
Thanks for yourthoughts. Can afford private-finding right doctor the bigger problem.I have the list from Louise but the occasional blog suggests it is not foolproof. After yesterday ,reflection tells me the docs have a mantra which if they say often enough they believe :"ITREAT THE SYMPTOMS".Up to a point where the chart says normal ! Its Orwells "doublespeak"
That is absolutely true! And even before you get to that point, what is good for one is not so good for another.
I went to see a certain doctor reputed to be the best, and found him wonderful. My son went to see him and thought he was awful, and never went back. What was the difference? I have no idea! Personnalities clashing? Possibly...
