Help with diet please.
I have the same problem with the liver. The doctor said that you can eat everything in moderation. But the pain after eating and gas turned out to be a problem with an esophageal ulcer, and my intestines are irritated. Maybe these organs need to be checked. Of course, treatment with Ibrance affects all organs.
Sorry you are suffering.I have liver mets but no problem when I eat normally. Hope someone can help you on this forum.👍
The old school old world recommendation was to avoid fatty food, limit protein and eat watermelon ( very healthy), grapes, and other fruits/berries.
Hope you’ll feel better!
Actually, regarding protein, the gov. info shared by awesome4ever states "When your liver is not working properly, your body needs more protein than normal. Protein is often known as the building blocks for building and repairing body tissues. Eating too little protein, particularly for long periods of time, may lead to muscle weakness, frailty and slow recovery from illness or surgery The goal is to eat approximately 1.2-1.5g protein per each kg body weight."
I would check with the oncologist and pharmacist first but over the counter Gas-X has helped me with bloating and gas. I also take peptobismal tablets on occasion but unclear of their interaction with meds. Abdominal discomfort should be addressed as it is all encompassing and terribly uncomfortable. Thinking of you NPmary!
Thank you for replying. I am glad you haven't had these symptoms.
Hi Mary. I'm so sorry. It's a struggle I'm sure. Not sure if this is beneficial or not but I would think nutrition wise the recommendation would be similar to what the liver foundation would give for a patient with cirrhosis. It's the buildup of fluid that is likely causing your issues, as well as the cancer itself. Here's the nutrition pdf that the liver foundation give to patients in Canada. Take a read and see if it is beneficial. Good luck my friend. Take care.

I read the info shared below, from the Canadian site, and think there's some very good information there, especially in regards to a good nutritonal balance and more specific tips to guide things like when to eat, etc. I once shared house with a friend whose liver was heading badly into cirrhosis from an overindulgence of bad things but he went to an alternative healer who healed him by making a special concoction of Chinese herbs. And I always remember his additional nutritional advice, which was NO more fried foods and cut out all the crap foods! (It is a lot harder for the liver to process foods that have been fried, due to the changes to the oil under the high heat.)
Best advice is always to eat foods closest to their most natural state. In other words, avoid processed foods, pies, processed meats, cakes, biscuits, etc. As much as we may love them, they are often loaded with high fats, sugars, and a ton of other ingredients that are simply not good for us at all, and create more work for our livers. Go for vegetables not soaked in oils and bought sauces, beans, white meats fish, whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, etc.. And fruit.
I once had hepatitis as a teenager, and it was awful. The same thing as you experience, had to eat small meals, lack of appetite in general. And I absolutely could not eat red meat, any fatty foods, or my favorite, chocolate!!
I hope you can get some relief soon
Thank you.
I keep asking for radiation, ablation or surgery
To my liver. Onc says doesn’t work. I need to find the right cancer drugs. Just began Enhertu today
