I did! And my oncologist said anecdotally he saw several other women--include two early stage patients who were essentially in remission, in the same situation. So I think it's a "thing". I also had a lymph node light up on a scan. My Onc. reassured me none of this is a reason not to have the vaccine though...just an FYI to be aware of.

Thank you for responding, Mine have showed increase, and what's scary is a started a new treatment and I feel Great, but the Dr believe it isn't working due to markers. I got the vaccines 3 days prior to treatment and that's when they run the labs. Hoping Dr's agree to give my body a chance to level off.

Hi Tinkerbell03,

Yes, mine went up by the highest % they'd ever increased!

I wouldn't have necessarily made the connection to the vaccine, but I'd seen a post here on the site asking the same question as you have...

Perhaps more importantly, I also had progression in the scan I had about a month after second jab...Did not change treatment, and then next scan was stable, *and* markers (well, the more accurate one...) came down again (not quite as much as it had risen...).

Does this mean that the markers were just doing their thing, warning me about progression?

Or does it mean that whatever effect the vaccine had on my markers also registered as progression?

I'm leaning toward the latter since both the markers and the progression have settled back down. In my completely non-scientific way, I am thinking of this as "the vaccine distracted my immune system from "job 1" for a bit...

I'm of course incredibly glad to have had the vaccine (life-changing! :) ) but am also very glad that I did not change treatment, choosing instead to view the progression as a "blip"...

Great question!

Lynn

I am sticking with you kid! 🥰 I am discussing this with my Dr, THANK YOU, because I am having the same situation with my markers. Dr wants a scan, but now I learned from you, this can also be miss leading due to vaccine. I pray I am like you and things come back to normal. I am happy I got vaccinated, but scared because it was at the beginning of a new treatment.I will keep you posted.

I wish you complete healing Lynn

Hi Tinkerbell.

Mine has been devastating, my CEA in May was 10, I put the first dose of modern and it went up to 25, in June I put the second, and it went up to 52, the June scans showed regression, but now my oncologist has asked for another because the markers have risen too much they are doubling.

😒

Thank you for responding rosapoli, Mine too! I am praying that we both level off.Your June scan showed regression which is good. I don't want to regret the vaccine.

I hear some protection is better than none, but jeezzzzz, it's become stressful due to the unknown effects to women like us. Keep in touch, I will let you know what I hear over here.

Mine went back down after a couple of months. But sometimes a new treatment can cause them to rise because they measure both living and dead cancer cells. This is not uncommon. . So you could be having the effects of both the new treatment and the virus! Double whammy! .

You can always have the scan just to be sure…or wait another month to see what happens. If it was me, I might ask about holding off on changing meds until you rule out other non-progression reasons they might be rising.

Good luck!

That is was I am going to do. I am going to wait another month. I just had treatment on Saturday. I will take it from there. I will go to the birth of my first grand daughter and enjoy the moment. Stay safe. 🌺🌸🌻🌹💐☘️

There is so much that is unknown about the vaccine. I chose not to get it because I had Covid in December. I have been checking to see if I have antibodies or not. If you have antibodies, then actually it is a natural immunity against the virus. I just got my antibodies checked in June, and I still have them, even though it's been 7 months. Just something to think about. I am not anti vaccines, but I chose not to add any other chemical in my body. I am on Ibrance, letrozole, and zometa and lupron. Antibody tests can be done at Cvs, your doctor's office, and some pharmacies at grocery stores.

Hello BallerinaMel,

Thanks for the reply, I am going to go to Cvs and check if I can have the antibodies test done.

Do we need a prescription?

TinkerBell03, you don't need a prescription. Go to their website, and sign up for an appointment. It it around $30 out of pocket. Good luck! I hope you have the antibodies! Keep us posted.
