Cortisol levels

Has anyone here Dr’s ever ordered a Cortisol Saliva Test? If you are having problems falling asleep besides your RLS symptoms, and if your waking up every night wide awake just almost exactly 2 am. Then there’s a good possibility that you have high Cortisol levels. Chronic sleep deprivation can contribute to that. I know it’s bad enough to have RLS, as well as PLMD, which I have, but to top it off with Cortisol problems, it adds more fuel to the fire. To be Clear I’m NOT saying it’s going to cure RLS, but it can help with sleep problems, that are a result of RLS/PLMD. It’s definitely worth checking out.

This study is over 10 years old, but it postulated that magnesium supplementation can improve serum cortisol and other measures in 'elderly people' thus improving sleep patterns:

I have the most awful sleep and medication isn’t helping.

I wake suddenly with what I think is high cortisol and can’t get back to sleep. I am exhausted. Interested to know what could lower this as it may help me.

Well, then there's this - the Root Cause Protocol...

Their signature solution is the Adrenal Cocktail which I used for severe leg cramps (happened with my severe RLS) - never could figure how the two conditions were related, but surely something to do with Magnesium.

So I fed The Root Cause Protocol into an AI. Because, why not. Here is the summary

This paper provides a protocol for restoring mineral balance in the body. The protocol involves several steps that are broken down into small and manageable parts. The recommended steps include:

1. Removing items from the STOPS list, which are substances that can interfere with mineral absorption.

2. Consuming mineral-rich foods and supplements.

3. Testing for mineral imbalances and adjusting the protocol accordingly.

4. Using transdermal magnesium products to supplement magnesium intake.

This protocol differs from mainstream nutrition in that it focuses specifically on restoring mineral balance in the body, rather than just providing general nutrition. It also emphasizes the importance of avoiding certain substances that can interfere with mineral absorption.
