My Mum developed a something that sounded similar on her lower legs and googling it came up with all sorts of horroble scenarios, the GP prescribed an emollient - Hydromel to be applied twice a day and it worked, the skin returned to normal & we contiued with daily applications, which Mum loved as she got a bit of a massage at the same time. You can but the emollients in the chemist, so could be worth a try. If it works ask your GP to prescribe it.
My husband has very red knees too - it's not a rash, just redness of the skin. I've never connected it with the PSP or even asked the consultant about it, thinking it is just 'one of those things' - maybe connected with his lack of mobility. I wouldn't think it's to do with the final stages of PSP as he's only been diagnosed for less than a year, although diagnosed with Parkinson's two years before, and probably already had it for a couple of years before that! Who knows - this is such a weird illness, it seems to affect everything! Interesting though....
My mom's feet and leg areas can get red. I thought it was caused by poor circulation as she can't walk at all anymore. I massage the area and make sure socks etc. are not the problem of cutting off circulation. The psps don't always pay attn. To what they are putting on her feet. I'm most interested in what you learn.
