Swimming - Overcoming a childhood fear

Today was my Moms third swim lesson! As a child, she almost drown thrusting her into a lifelong fear of water. Over the last year, I’ve been struggling with exercise options due to her balance and walking limitations. My first thought was swimming, but quickly realized that this was a major fear .... I did some research and found a coach that specializes in overcoming anxiety/fear of water! Today was her third lesson ... so far so good!

Swimming is a good idea! You get exercise but don't have to worry about balance so much. Of course a fear of water complicates things a bit but with good instructor should be fine.

Wow, that's amazing that you've got your Mum to take up swimming at this stage. It must take such an effort for you both. Great bit of thinking out of the box.

Hi there, that’s great that she is able to have lessons with swimming, it’s great for her, my brother was able to get into a pool for one season, then PT he was able to swim, to bad he couldn’t continue, wish her well. Nettie
