Please can you help? My dad was diagnosed with PSP about 6/7 months ago, and he has recently started to have a number of nosebleeds - is this a normal symptom of PSP?? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Mum never had nose-bleeds, so it wasn't normal for her. It is worth mentioning to the doctor. I am just stabbing in the dark here, but wonder if his blood pressure is high? Best wishes to you both.
No D does not have nosebleeds but I wonder if it might be a good idea to have platelet levels checked. A low platelet count can result in nosebleeds and bruising.
Not a usual PSP symptom, M only has nose bleeds as result of falls. Suggest get his GP to check his blood pressure and may be run a 24 hr test to see if there are spikes as sometimes bleeds are caused by sudden increases in pressure. May need to have upper nasal passages cauterised if become too frequent.
Thanks Tim. He used to have frequent and very heavy nosebleeds years ago - he had it cauterised then, so maybe he needs it redoing. Just glad it's not another psp symptom. Cheers
