Hi! I am sorry that you caught a cold. I am 36 w and have caught quite a few colds along the way due to the lower immunity whilst pregnant. For what it's worth, I found that I felt properly rubbish only initially but then the symptoms subsided quite quickly. Not having a fever is a good sign that it's probably nothing serious. The way I approach colds at the moment is by taking manuka honey, ginger tea and making fresh fruit juices to boost immunity. Plus paracetamol when there is fever. Hang in there! I have been told by my midwife that baby is very well protected by your body (there are very few viruses that cross the placenta such as Zika etc) so it is only you suffering the consequences. I hope you feel better very soon!
Yes, just paracetamol I drank lots of hot Ribena, honey and lemon and Rooibos Tea. I also found a shower with Source mint shower gel helped clear my sinuses.
hi I had Covid at 10 weeks. Paracetamol for the fever, honey and lemon tea and loads of garlic. Baby is well protected and all was fine Ilim the wnd. Just rest loads and keep hydrated.
Hey there congratulations and sorry you feel unwell. Unfortunately you’ve got a long time to go with lots of feeling unwell inbetween likely. A simple cold will definitely not affect your baby and just be par for the course. Just take it easy, drink lots of fluid.
Colds are very common during pregnancy due to women having a lowered immune system. Baby will not be harmed by it. Taking regular Paracetamol, keep up your fluids, try a bath with ollbas vapour foam bath. B&M sell it for around £2. Rub vicks on your feet and put on socks, the eucalyptus wil help draw the cold down and out of the body. Also vicks your chest, behind your ear and on your temples. It's old school cold treatment, I use it on myself and kids for every cold we suffer and it helps to clear the cold in 48 hours.
Hi just to say colds are common in pregnancy as our immune systems are working hard to protect the baby they don't leave much protection for mum. I had a number of colds during my pregnancy and covid at 6 weeks which was horrendous I have never felt as ill as I did then in my whole life. None of this effected my baby she's now 4 months old and absolutely perfect. Keep drinking plenty of fluids, orange juice is good as the vitamin C will help you fight off the cold quicker and if you have a sore throat hot honey and lemon water help. Hope you feel better soon x
