Flare?

Further to my post of 11 days ago after my visit to Chiropractor I can only report that pain has got worse. It is now in shoulders, neck, tops of arms, buttocks and thighs. I am now really thinking that I am having a flare and will need to increase my pred. Unfortunately I am due to go on holiday in two days and this has come at the worst possible time. Should I wait until I am on holiday or up dose now? Please don’t think I am having a go at the chiropractic profession. I know many of you have had successful results but it’s not for me!

If it’s a flare, no point in waiting as it will only get worse…. and the travelling etc will probably worsen things. Advice for flare if not sure-

Enjoy holiday, but do remember to rest ..🌸

thanks Dorset Lady. I saw this once before and printed it off. Most helpful. I am going to increase today and see if that helps. If it doesn’t after a few days will have to make an appointment with GP to see what is going on.

If it is PMR flaring chiropractic will do nothing!! I certainly wouldn't wait until I was heading on holiday, I'd increase the dose now, Have you got plenty of pred to cover the holiday because you don't have much time to get an appointment if you don't.

I'd increase it this very minute in that circumstance. I really hope it helps.

Thank you. I upped yesterday as off to airport later today. If it settles down while away hopefully I can start to reduce again.

Don't be in too much of a hurry when you get back though!

Before diagnosis my last attempt to sort the pain was with a chiropractor. When that didn’t work either it was she who suggested Polymyalgia. I had never heard of it! So for my money I avoid chiropractors at this point and am careful about certain types of massage. In your position I would be upping Pred right now to enjoy my holiday. Have a great time! 😀

Just as a general point it depends very much on the chiropractor (and osteopath), but having had bad experiences I avoid them. The neck adjustment is vile. I couldn't move my head after one blighter did it; he had to adjust me back. I may possibly try McTimmeny (spelling may be wrong) if needed because they are very light touch. Hope all goes well on your holiday!

Thanks. Know what you mean about the neck thing. I thought it was going to break! On holiday now started more pred before I left. Now on day 3 and what a difference. Hopefully will be able to start a taper back when I get home
