Is the inflammation from PMR (which I unfortunately have) and the inflammation from DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness, which I also regularly have) somewhat similar, or are they two different beasts. And whether similar or not, does prednisone reduce DOMS. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Prednisone and DOMS
DOMS is from micro damage to the muscle body. I expect Pred’s effects in the muscle tissue makes this more likely to happen. I got it a lot and for a good year after stopping Pred.
I too would like to know this answer. The only thing I have noticed is that the lower amount of Pred I am on the more marked is the muscle soreness after an activity. I am currently wondering whether to go back a step in tapering to see if I experience it less. I’m not doing more as for as I can tell. I took paracetamol last night and it seemed to help.
Two different beasts. And pred probably makes you MORE likely to develop DOMS in the longer term.
As per the NHS link below, DOMS is not a disease. It is normal for muscles to stiffen and ache after strenuous exercise. It's the body's way of advising us to rest, until the micro-tears in the fibres have healed, and the worn-out cells have been replaced. In young, healthy individuals, the muscles tend to respond by growing bigger and stronger, if given the chance, ready for the next challenge.
Thanks everybody! Ah well, it seems that my DOMS is just another gift from the gift that keeps on giving. In other words, stir in prednisone with too little activity over too long a period and out of the oven comes DOMS. No stars for this recipe!
