Thanks Gill rich. I'm just overwhelmed with this at the minute. I don't understand why my auto antibodies are different than the usual ones. The consultant said after the biopsy it was very mild he doesn't grade it (in n. Ireland) but if he did it would be grade 0! Also I've just lost my Dad a couple of weeks ago so feeling very bad to start with but thanks for replying to me it helps to know you can have this for so long.

Totally understandable to be overwhelmed at first. I'm AMA negative as well, diagnosed by biopsy, and in NI. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, so I'm a wee bit further thorough it than you. Please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help you with anything.

So sorry for your loss, an awful time to have additional worries xx

Thank you Kakey for your kind words. I know I just need to get my head around it all and I'll just get on with it. These rare deseases seem to appear out of nowhere don't they. Too many unanswered questions! I'm glad you're doing well too. Thanx

So sorry for your loss, when so much comes at once it can be overwhelming but there are a good bunch of people on here who understand and are ready to listen.

It is good that your PBC has been caught early and no doubt URSOdeoxycholic acid has been prescribed. Do join the PBC Foundation (free to subscribe) you will find a wealth of information and will be able to keep up to date with any news in the PBC community.

For myself I was diagnosed in 2006 but almost certainly had up to 10 years with plenty of other suggested illnesses to explain my symptoms. Once you have become used to the idea of PBC life will settle in to a pattern. Try not to worry, PBC is more recognised now and new medications are becoming available - there is hope for all of us yet. take care

Thank you butterflyEi. It really helps to be able to chat to people with the same that understand. I haven't started the tabs yet I'm waiting on the prescription from my GP hopefully they'll agree with me and not too many side effects. I don't normally take many tabs just blood pressure ones I suppose the older you get the more tablets you gather lol!
