Sorry I missed your reply, for some reason it wasn't showing before I entered my original response.

I remember when I went back to the consultant 2mths after starting urso and he said that you can take urso in a higher dose. I was telling him I was experiencing bloating and also heartburn at the time and I did think the itch had worsened on starting it. (I persisted taking it after getting a good LFT result and the side-effects were temporary.)

Hello teddybear7.

So what you mean is that your bloods are not doing so good or that the system for monitoring them isn't? Sorry but I didn't quite get the first sentence. I was experiencing problems myself with the blood repeat back in 2012 so I started ringing surgery when I felt like it - every 3mths at the time as that is the last the GP told me to go in due to a slight climb over 6mths (diagnosed with PBC Dec 2010). I had no problems then having them taken. At a new surgery I joined 18mths ago, this GP sorted a plan that we could use at the time but subject to change in event bloods are not doing so good. Working fine at the moment.

How long have you been diagnosed? I found that in the first 6mths of me taking urso (started on urso Dec 2010) I had good results that showed the LFTs to start dropping but then I had a rise but not insignificantly so. I wasn't so bothered as they were by far better than during 2010 pre-diagnosis. I then had a drop again and then a rise and if I was to get out a graph I'd make a wavy line with mine. I've noticed over the last almost 4yrs now on urso that my LFTs have changed at certain times in the year so for me that is my current connection.

I cannot understand the chemist and not being able to supply urso. Have you asked them for a reason? I used to be on 300mg tablets but then I found out that July 2013 they were withdrawn and I had to start on the 150mg ones. I have had problems with those as Boots where I went were only supplying generics that I found I was experiencing rather bad heartburn that persisted and persisted. I asked the GP for a brand name to be written as I had managed to receive a brand from Sainsburys at the time but that was only for 6mths and then they told me they had to supply cheaper which were the generics Boots had originally given me. I'd speak to the GP and he/she can check the current availability of the urso and perhaps write you a prescription for a brand as if a brand on the script the chemist has to supply those. I've to wait overnight to get my brand from Boots now but I do receive them.

Hope you can sort both out and that you get back on an even keel.

Hi peridot thanks for the reply. This is the third time I've tried to write this I keep hitting the wrong button.

I was diagnosed finally March this year but investigations started July 2013.

This is the first time either with or without urso that my lfts have been poor. I go for bloods again today & see the gastro early Dec. I know they can fluctuate & it's all in hand but when they couldn't supply my urso it seemed like the last straw. I've done everything they've asked. Lost 3st 8lb now a healthy bmi. Haven't had booze since May. My choice it was making me so I'll. Eat low fat & healthy. Fats have the same effect as the booze. So when the bloods were up it gave me a bit of a shock. I'm temporarily on 1000mg instead of 900mg till I see gastro so I know they can supply them. So we'll see what bloods are Monday & what gastro says in Dec. Oh the chemist says supply's of 150s are short cause they keep sending them to Europe??? Xx
