NICE Guidelines Delay?

Does anyone have any information about the delay for the publication date of the new NICE B12 guidelines to be moved from next week to early March? I need the new guidelines to fight for reinstatement of my 8 weekly injections which were stopped when I changed to a new surgery which insists on testing as a suitable maintenance procedure despite the flaws.

Hi, I heard it was now due out 6th March.

I am waiting for the guidelines to change so I can get an Active B12 and MMA test on the NHS. Had these done privately and I am deficient but the NHS don't seem keen on recognising private tests.

Someone on here will no doubt come back with more info than me hopefully.

Hi,

I don't know why it was delayed. Might be that they feel other guidelines have priority or that so many people contacted them after draft document was published that they need time to sift through the responses.

There is an email contact on the page so maybe you could email a query.

Search online for "NICE CKS Anaemia - B12 and Folate deficiency" to find the NICE document.

Have a look at the recent thread below which may have some useful info for you.

Might also be worth talking to your local MP about your situation.

Some UK forum members get fed up with battling to get adequate treatment and turn to treating themselves eg extra B12 injections from private GPs or beauty salons (expensive), some try high dose oral B12 (1000mcg or higher) but this doesn't work for some (didn't for me) and some as a last resort turn to self injection (SI). There is a pinned post about this on right hand side of screen if on computer.

I'm not a health professional just someone who suffered for many years from unrecognised and untreated B12 deficiency.
