I have taken gabapentin and pregabalin for nerve pain while awaiting surgery. Neither has worked well for me. My doctor is now prescribing nortriptyline and I am waiting for the prescription to be filled. Has anyone had any experience with this drug, which is also used to treat depression? I would only be taking one dose a day at bedtime. Thank you!

Nortriptyline as a Pain Management Tool?
I have taken all 3 and the only one that helped some eas pregabalin, I had ni effect from the noryiptlptaline.
Thank you for your reply!
I take pregabalin and tramadol for chronic abdominal pain, I know nothing about Nortriptolyne - sorry. They work reasonably well for me. Might it be a good idea to try the Nortriptolyne if you are in a lot of pain, I would. .if you get bad side effects, simple - stop them.
Have you tried Lidocaine patches? I use them, not sure if they help physically, but psychologically they do!
Thank you! Right now I am trying a bigger dose of pregabalin. The side effects of nortriptyline are a bit daunting. Also, I've been told not to expect much until two weeks have gone by. That's a bit unnerving!
I take 150 mg. pregabalin four times a day as dr. Increased the dose from initial 3 times a day. I have taken it for a long time, due to nerve damage. (Plus Tramadol - which is very important to me). And good old paracetamol and/or Ibuprofen in addition if pain is particularly bad. I have taken these drugs for years - hope this helps…
I found that if I take gapabentin 100mg 4 times a day it helps me much better than taken a larger dose at one time
I'm afraid I was up to 900 mg 3t/day and it didn't help me too much.
Yes, I had exactly the same problem!
I take gabapentin 300mg twice a day now Was on pregabalin 175 mg twice a day before
For spinal pain sciatica and brachialgia
Gabapentin works well for me though I must admit pregabalin isn't so effective for me now
Good luck with nortriptyline
Thank you so much for replying. My doctor has increased the dose of pregabalin, and I make sure I don't take it on an empty stomach, so that I don't get so fuzzy in the head. So far, this is working better than anything else. I still have the nortriptyline, but am waiting so see if this pain relief continues with the pregabalin before I consider making a switch. It seems that all these things lose effectiveness over time, which is really discouraging.
