Brachial plexus

I have been losing my mobility in my right hand( my thumb and the next two fingers)

I lose strength and when trying to do small movements like turning a key doing buttons up and lots more I cannot do. My hand is always cold.

I had MRI brain and cervical spine was unremarkable, However MRI of the brachial plexus does show a 7mm cyst on the right side, close to the right C7 exit forearm which is causing compression on the right C8 nerve root.

I have now been passed to a Orthopaedic Surgery team to see if they can help me.

I live with pain already so this is just another part of the body I have pain with. Sorry for going on

I have a trapped nerve in my neck that effects my arms and hands, pain and numbness and weakness . I know what it's like and it's very frustrating at times.

Hi, it sounds like nerve compression and I can empathize. I had decompression of both shoulders and spine surgery several years ago which helped for a while but now the numbness and pain is back. Due to cervical spine degeneration and collapsed discs, the nerve is permanently pinched and as they can't operate again it's pain relief and wrist/ hand grip support for both sides. Hope the orthopedic surgeon can do some decompression for you to give relief . Hugs xx

After 68 years of playing I've had to give up clarinet and sax partially because of the same thing. My GP tells me it is peripheral neuropathy spreading from my legs and feet due to 21 years of (well controlled) type 2 diabetes.

Hi, you are not going on. I have had similar symptoms to yourself but I was diagnosed with Tensynovitis in my right thumb which affected my fingers but mine was due to work, lifting heavy bedding and making beds. I have now developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right hand again due to my job. I know how you feel, it isn't nice being in pain all the time. I have to wear 2 different splints for my thumb and 1 for my hand. I have now developed muscle wastage in my thumb so I have no muscle in my thumb and it looks strange, because it is floppy. I hope you get sorted out soon and good luck.x

Yours sounds awful. No repair then? My finger next to my thumb is bending down to my palm. I don’t know if this is connected?I am now being sent to a specialist in Bristol because the other consultants (2) I have seen says this is a very complicated area
