Hello, I’m new to the group and I’m wondering if anyone else are on pain patches ? I’ve been on them for a few months now and I’m thinking of coming off them to give my body a break, my question is are there any withdrawal effects? Thank you.

Depends what they are?

Fentanyl, lidocaine, butrans or what??

The stronger and longer you've been using them the slower and longer it will take to get off them.

There can be quite severe withdrawals, you would need to have your gp taper it off at a sensible and safe rate. It would also depend on which patches, dose and how long you’ve been on them.

Good luck!

As the previous responders have said it depends on what patch it is. Also give some thought to how you plan to manage your pain when you are off them as some GP's are not so supportive in allow you back on them. Talk to your GP about your concerns with the drug and get them on side first, you need the support from your gp and they can ensure it document and should you need to go back to them that they consider you concerns from last time
