That's terrible for them to treat you this way. When you go back in you could show them this forum.
I had to take ill health retirement last year but I was very lucky to have a very good support network, everyone on here and also my boss and everyone at work. I still see my boss and other friends from work now. Pm me if you want to. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
I’m in hot and sunny Fiji. I hear you about the warmth and pain.
Hi there, don't worry to much we all have bad days a lot more than others but remember this we are all in it together with you that's why we reach out on here to help each other if we can x
Hy, my doctor, when i was in pain told me to take a walk.... from kitchen to bedroom in any direction... just to walk... not to stay in bed. Pills also. Get healthy! Best regards!
I too have just woken after just a couple of hours sleep in total, had a terrible night with nerve pain in my leg, it just wears you out. Wishing you better, Chrissy x
Hi, Crissie, all got bearable with my sciatica when i bought a 1x3 hard foam wedge (could get a shorter but hard pillow) covered it with large pillow case. Sleep in my side, wedge between legs so one leg is higher than other. You will find ur own comfort zone, bend legs or just one, sleep right or and left side. In addition to nightly stretches it helps me a lot! Takes pressure off damned nerve! Good luck feel better, love!
Yes I have had those also and nerve blocks and infusions. Physio helped my muscles a slight bit. I’m going to try laser therapy if nothing with this acupuncture. I’ve just had a dreadful night my leg is like a furnace, I feel wrecked. Thank you for your replies
I hope you finally find a pain specialist who will be able to help you, Christine. I cannot even imagine to be in such pain continually with no chance for relief. For 8 months i was in severe nerve pain, kidney damage from Meloxicam a On top of it.
Its pure hell....and it also makes me feel helpless to give any advice since you are trying everything. Keep fighting ..... please hang in there! You are never alone in this fight against pain, this group is for me very special. Hugs
Thanks for your reply, apparently nerve pain can be different with every one. Infact I never get 2 days alike. All I know is I can’t take much more of it, it’s not just chronic it’s acute, during the night and I’ll keep trying and trying until I can at least ease it. I put Bio freeze in the fridge which is much the same. I wish you well.
Then you’ve already tried my technique. Bio freeze is an excellent product.
Have any nerve pain modulators like Nortriptyline worked?
I used Hydroxuzine Hydrochloride as an anti histamine as it upsets nerve function to. ( histamine )
Mint Clonodine 0.1 mg may help calm your over active Parasympathetic Nervous System.
My pain was always acute but left chronic. I hope you get the help you need. I went insane and almost died from acute pain that caused life death threatening sleep deprivation.
I’m so sorry to hear that, yes I have tried Nortriptyline but that didn’t work, I haven’t tried the Mint clonodine though. As you must know everyone can suit different medications. There have been so many you start to think there has got to be something that will help at least ease it a bit because our quality of life is terrible. Thank you for your advice
The only other thing I can suggest is applying capsicum pain patches to the affected area.
My rectum was electrocuted. The burning pain was agony. Sitting on ice was really uncomfortable and it was a pain to carry my cooler with ice packs everywhere I went. I ended up getting tendonitis in my right elbow.
Anyways, the heat from the capsicum patch equilibrates with the nerve pain and redirects the signals. I’ve spent over $10,000.00 in ten years on these patches that only last for two hours.
Sorry you are feeling bad, I to have days where the pain is just too much to stand, usually end up staying in bed, hope you feel better soon, gentle hugs x
Hi I’m new to this group and this is my first post. A year or so I had a meeting with a hypnotherapist, recommended by my doctor.
The first thing he said is don’t say ‘my pain’ because then your owning it. It’s pain. After about 45 mins of listening to my woes nodded and said ok I understand. For the first time in ages I felt listened to.
Then he said I’m going to ask you some strange questions just work with me.
He asked:
What colour was the pain, it’s shape, what depth?
If I could touch it would it be hard or soft, rough or smooth.
Could I imagine e it making a noise or was it quiet , and lots of other stuff.
Then he said -
What colour would make it feel better,
What shape would make it feel better,
Move the depth deeper or shallower,
What if I changed it from rough to smooth, or vice versa. And he got me to change them all, and it really helped.
He told me pain is just another emotion at the other end of the scale.
I had several sessions with him, using suggestion, imagery, options of choice and I have to say it reduced to a point where I started to live again.
So that’s my first post, I hope it helps in some way, I know we are all different but this and his work has helped me immensely. Don’t ever give up, keep looking.
This sounds amazing! Since there are pain centers in our brain it makes sense. This therapist must be one in a million and thank heaven u found him/her. I remember what u said above and will try to self hypnotize? Like sometime when pain gets unbearable i try to think of wonderful things like sleeping in a meadow, eating whip cream and berries, sit on a sunny beach etc. hug my dog helps and looking in an animals eyes. Thanks for sharing!
Unfortunately, my neuralgia has no colour and no colour could remove it. I don’t believe pain is an emotion. I believe it is a response to something in the body that is causing the flight and fright response. When nerve pain is so bad that it causes life threatening sleep deprivation and near death...... it’s not an emotion.
I adore and love life. I had a life threatening pinched nerve compression injury and I was brushed off as having a mental imbalance. I was gaslighted, dismissed, incorrectly diagnosed, wrongly treated, over medicated, over sedated, and left to go insane and die in agony.....because I’m female!
Real body pain IS NOT an emotion. Utter nonsense. Just keeping it real.
Hi, sorry your having such a bad day. Know how you feel. Sending good thoughts and hugs. Take care of yourself and do whatever you want to make you feel better. 🤗🤗🤗
Sorry to hear about your pain, I know what it's like, I have Parkinsons and also the same as you peripheral nueropathy, the last time I saw my consultant and told her how bad my feet were she put me Gabapentine and these have helped a lot, I don't get the shooting pains and my feet feel less numb and the best thing is I get some sleep at night. Hope you get some relief and feel a bit better it's good to talk. take care x
