Most people who don't suffer from pain are very judgemental, fearing god knows what - addiction among other things. I know I am much more pleasant to be around when I have adequate pain relief, but my family often comments if I appear "too frisky". I get resentful, as if they don't want me to enjoy life.

Hi , so sorry to hear you are suffering with such awful pain.

I have been suffering with nerve pain, and I was prescribed Gabapentin, it is wonderful my pain has literally gone. I am a new woman.

Whether this would suit you , ofcoarse it is not for me to say.

However there is no harm in mentioning it to your GP.

I do hope you become pain free very soon.

Regards Rhapsody.

Pain killers usually don't work well for nerve pain with the exception of tramadol, which I find mildly effective but I use nortriptyline for my nerve condition, its given me a reduction in my pain where as gabapentin did not work for me. Everyone is different but you should mention all the above meds to your doctor. Also use ice, heat, healthy diet and any exercise and fresh air that you can handle. All useful and safe in controlling pain.

I find tramadol takes the edge of my nerve pain (I have tarsal tunnel syndrome). And yes, I'm much more pleasant to be around if I'm not in severe pain! It's hard to not be a grumpy miserable so-and-so when pain takes over your thinking!

Also I just bought a tens machine which really helps, if only to give me a break for awhile!

If i may...I have neuralgia from sciatica and i have been prescribed zonagran. It is in the class of drugs similar to lyrica, and neurontin. I find it actually helping with the horrible burning and dull ache that pinching feeling that goes down my leg. sorry for your pain.

Hello back again

The medication is an anti zeizure medication ZONEGRAN (Zonisam)

Lyrica is pregabalin used for above.nuro pain.

Many on this site as you now know are chronic pain sufferers, Pregabalin is used very often to relieve nurological pain, also this has possible benefits for your complaint

We do not seem to use the first one you mentioned although you will need to discuss this with your GP.

How can I help you do you not have help groups in Alabama, USA as we live in an NHS environment that runs a different system to yours.

Bob

I'm new here and just getting use to this site,so I'm not sure if your asking me the question, but I'm on lyrica, oxycodone and fentynal patch,I also take hydrochloriquine, alrazapram,Ambien, xenax, tizinadine,I'm not addicted to any of these things, trimadole when it's not on a ten level,I have to manage my pain I like to b active.it hurts so bad when I don't,,but I'm not stress free either.if I was I wouldn't have to.but one thing,if I have a drink I don't take the meds. And my lungs feel like someone is banging on them, and I can't stand up for two days sometimes three. Then I'm ok to start over.but if I no I'm having a drink I don't take the meds, none of them.
