I am so sorry that you have now got a recurrence, I had a recurrence (but not in the bowel) and have since been in remission for 18months ....wishing you all the best for your future treatment love x G x
Hi, I have had several recurrences over the last 4 yrs. When having surgery during my first treatment the surgeon noticed a walnut sized tumour on the bowel, he said he could have scraped it off but chose to cut it out. It tends to attack the surface of the bowel first and should react to treatment. I currently have disease on the bowel again plus some invasion on the rectum but neither have yet caused any bowel type problems. Good luck on your next treatment, i,m sure they can shrink it back. Love Sandra xx
Thanks for the replies I am hoping it has not advanced too much and will respond to the chemo. I am not looking forward to being bald again but the side effects etc are a small price to pay if the treatment works. When are they going to find a cure for this!!
You will not necessarily lose your hair, some chemo,s do not give hair loss. Carboplatin, Caelyx, Gemcitibine are examples. Taxol and Rotterdam you do lose your hair. Xx
Hello Cathy
Sorry to hear that you've had a recurrence. It's what we all dread, isn't it. Hopefully, it will have been spotted early and the cycle of chemo, although it's not easy, will do the trick. I do hope so. In the meantime, keep in touch and let us know how you're doing. Sending you a hug (((xxx))) Think of all the women on this site who have had second line treatment and are still well, keep strong.......
Love Wendy xx
Hi Cathy
Mine came back on my bowel 8 years ago. As it was in just the one spot I had surgery to remove it and 2nd line chemo, and it was hoped to be curative. Unfortunately it did return, but It gave me another 4 years remission so, as you say, the surgery & being bald was a small price to pay.
Its such a shock when you find out its back, but as I said, this was 8 years ago and I am still going strong (13years in total since 1st diagnosis), so there is always hope.
Vx
Dear Cathy, I'm sorry you're feeling down. I always think the worst bit is hearing the news and then as you get a treatment plan it starts to feel better.
I'm waiting to have more treatment as my tumours aere reappearing but have been told we can wait and see so I'm back at the hospital this morning to discuss my personal cancer plan which is a bit different from some others as it involves a move to access better services.
We should keep in touch and compare notes.
There's some really helpful advice on the thread here. I hope it's cheered you up.
Loads of love, Annie xxx

Hi Cathy
No recurrence issues for me at this time but still wanted to send a virtual bug. It's what we all dread - but the above are good thoughts: focus now on the treatment to bash it back again, and as many times as needed

Hi, Sorry to hear its coming back. It's very hard time to hear "it's coming back" I never got to reoccurrence but managed to go without treatment for 18 months, my last ct was actually better than one before which was performed just month earlier. My oncologist said she doesn't know what happened because she thought I would have to start with second line last December.i had fluid in abdomen too but. Last ct showed that fluid is gone and disease didn't grow either. Only what could help is that I have cut of dairy products from diet. I know I would have to go through chemo Again but Better later than sooner! Wishing u all the best xxx
Hi Cathy - I'm on Caelyx for recurrance on bowel (multiple nodules) and have NOT lost my hair. Are they offering you an operation too? I had a 2nd operation but the surgeon didn't take out the largest tumour (c.4cm) as there were too many other ones near it and it was all too risky. From this site I have learnt that many, many women go through recurrance and that there are many, many treatment options out there. Good luck - Nicola
Hi everybody thanks so much for your support and advice I feel a lot better for it. I have been told that they can't operate on it so it is down to the chemo and will power. It's strange how so many different treatments are offered how do you know you are getting the best treatment, you have to trust the Oncologist. It is interesting about cutting out dairy does diet play a big role in your fight or is it just luck. I have been having Avastin for the past 10 months and it doesn't seem to have worked, I know it has been hailed as a wonder drug but is it really. Cathy
I know the feeling when you are told the cancer is back. If you responded well to chemo the first time, you will hopefully respond well again. Thinking of you.
Love,
Eileen xx
