Tiny red spots on torso

This morning I woke to an itchy “ bite” on my ribs and later likewise similar itchy feeling on ribs at back but only mild. Had Shingles in December but it’s not that. Tonight I have about 10 bright red but tiny marks under the skin, not itchy. I have had a couple of these spots before also on torso. Could this be related to my medication ( Benepali and Hydroxychloroquine and have had some Naproxen lately to kick out some flaring inflammation)? Anything I should look out for?

Hi at first I thought they looked like a few tiny little flat red dots I have on my torso and under one forearm, I was told by the doc some years ago were tiny cherry angiomas and harmless. As you’ve itched and they suddenly arrived maybe it could be some allergy or reaction/irritation? You could show them to your doc on a call if they don’t disappear soon. Hope they calm down. x

Sorry to tell you it’s probably an age thing....show them to your rheumy nurse next time you see her.

🤣.... yes, after a quick google that seems to be likely!!! Oh another joy of being over 50. Just so odd how they suddenly appeared. I fear actually “ seeing” a medic is still very far away yet.

If it’s any consolation...when you get really old they do fade!

🤣.... strangely when I have had a few suddenly appear before they disappeared!!!! Luckily it’s pretty hard to see them myself ( angle looking down) and with worsening eyesight standing in front of a mirror doesn’t help much either!

Welcome to Senior Citizenship. But don’t worry...it’s often quite a blessing not to see everything around(or on) you!

I have had mine since my 30s so seems something different to yours. So ignore my post! I was told though by my doc they start around your 30s.

I have these too but come and go. I did mention it to the rheumatology nurse but didn’t have any to show at the time. I now photograph them. But I agree it’s an age thing.

Can you book a Covid test Denise? Or get one sent to your house? Any skin symptom these days would be worth checking. I’m sure a GP call would help put your mind at rest too.

Funnily enough my h commented on some just like those this morning in the shower, I have them on the upper part of my left breast. He asked if I’d been scratching but I've had them some while so just goes to show how much attention he pays! I've never reported them as they've never changed, unlike other larger skin blemishes or moles, so I’ve just put them down to age &/or sun damage due to living in a sunny country for a good while a few years back. If they're concerning you do have them checked out, always better to be safe than sorry with anything skin wise. I had my GP take off a mole in the '80's, more because it was on my back & in line with my bra band where the fastening was so it kept bleeding. Thankfully it came back clear. Not that I'm saying yours is the same, just that it's best to keep an eye on any new changes in your skin & report them if blemishes do change.

It was just with you being so sure & I was going to ask why when I have had what appear to be the same for a long while but they've never grown any larger. Can I ask what sciences & medical qualifications you have?

Ah, ok. Mine must be different from de Morgan's given they've never grown, & are smooth not raised.

Yep. I’m pale (from Dutch and Irish heritage) and only had two small ones in my 20s but then when I hit my 50s they got a bit larger and I have plenty more now. My PCP has seen them is unconcerned unless they change characteristics/bleed on their own.

Hmmm interesting. I've been on Hydroxychloroquine for 6 months and also developed a ton of these!
