blood in urine and CKD
Having blood in your urine is something you should let your doctor know immediately. It is not common in CKD unless there is something like a stone, or infection. Do not wait on this.
Hi TDPowers, agree with Bassetmimmer, see your doctor immediately. I had blood a few days ago and am going through checks for any prostrate issues. It may not be anything for you.
That does not sound normal.
I have it every time I am tested. I have ADPKD, and it is one of the common symptoms. My kidney function is still in the normal range and has been for years, even though I've experienced blood in my urine for years. Ask your doctor about it at your next appointment.
I think you need to talk to the doctor as others have said. I have had blood in my urine since 2016, the results have been either trace or 1+ since my kidney started to have problems. I didn't notice any reddish urine though. I have a tubular injury. In saying that my doctors have never mentioned the blood in my urine:/
What do they do for tubular injuries? That's what we are thinking my husband has since he's got blood and now Glucose. He's got a first time neph appointment at the end of this month.
Hello Bananas2007, I believe you need to know the cause of the tubular injury. Here is a site that I read a while back about tubular injuries.

Mine was not caught for years. I had to have a kidney biopsy to determine it was a tubular injury and then the cause was orthostatic hypotension, caused by another rare condition I have. So now I am on blood pressure meds to increase my blood pressure because low blood pressure is a daily problem for me. I believe hypotension in general (even one major episode) is a common cause of tubular injuries. Unfortunately, my doctors didn't take action early on, so I will not regain what was lost. I have chronic kidney disease now.
Sarah same here, every urine test, protein and blood but only a trace of blood, none visible and I've been in menopause for several years so it's not that. I'm stage 4, 22%. Biopsy indicated the damage was due to high BP. I don't have diabetes and don't have PKD or other autoimmune besides the Graves Disease which causes hyperthyroidism but it's been in remission for years now.
Some good advice to go see your doctor as this isn't normal and could be several issues to be concerned about. That being said if you take a PPI for reflux (a commonly prescribed pharmaceutical used by many) that can lead to a reading of “trace” in your urine sample. Best to be sure to ask your doc though, just as I did and many others recommended.
