hi I’ve had PV and ET since August 2015 I recently started with chest pain after MRI and CT angiogram I was diagnosed with heavily calcified LAD artery and diagonal artery both severe
They started me on high intensity statins and propanol
My stress test didn’t achieve the required heart rate of 160 only reaching 120 so was inconclusive
I’m on 1500 mg of hydroxycarbamide and amlodipine and Irbesarten
The haematologist today wasn’t really interested!
Has anyone had similar problems?

The diagnosis of diagnosed with heavily calcified LAD artery and diagonal artery along with chest pain should be of very serious concern to the treating hematologist treating a MPN. You are on a high dose of hydroxycarbamide, which could be contributing to exercise intolerance, but I would not assume that is the case given everything else that is going on. What you describe requires a close collaboration between hematology and cardiology. Moreover, you need to have a MPN Specialist who is invested in providing proper care for your more complex case. Suggest it is time to either get a second opinion from a MPN Specialist and/or find a new hematologist who is interested in what is going on with your health.
Hi thanks for your reply I was under Christies cancer hospital in Manchester UK then I moved area I’m now under Christies In Macclesfield my platelets are controlled at 396
But yesterday I was shocked that no response or even asked who the cardiologist was or asked for the report
I have ET. I had two stents fitted in 2015. Last year after getting chest pain again I had a further angiogram. This showed further calcification, this time in the LAD which potentially needs stenting. However the calcification is situated in a position that would be difficult to stent. The consultant said it was possible that I could have a heart attack while undergoing the procedure. He decided to try medication to bring the pain under control. I am now on Bisoprolol, Ranalozine, Losartan, Amlodopin, Hydroxy and Aspirin plus two weekly injections of Praluent as I am intolerant to statins. The pain is much improved but I do get breathless. My haematology consultant/MPN specialist was fantastic and wrote to my cardiologist to try to get things moving quickly. I hope you get things sorted. I would definitely recommend changing your haematologist. Best regards Karen
