Sorry to hear about your difficult situation. Having worked in Universal Credit (indirectly,my job was to check the staff were paying the correct amounts and the computer systems were carrying out the right calculations), I can say all too well that the system is a shambles. The best advice would be contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau for advice. Alternatively you may want to contact by phone or letter, your local MP and have them chase up your query to a resolution - trust me, when an MP is involved they always rush it through.

Keep us posted on how you get on and fingers crossed a resolution is in sight.

Yes I’d agree. Having worked in the public sector I know that everything gets speeded up when MPs ask questions. It’s what your MP is there for. Make use of him/her. So sorry for you. How stressful at an already difficult time. Is it worth giving your landlord a heads up too? Most of them are reasonable and if any delay to your rent is explained beforehand they will be less anxious and more supportive than if they have to chase you. Good luck.

Hi Thankyou so much for your reply even citizen advice were puzzled when they viewed my journal yesterday I did ring uc and they said they will get the case manager to look at it and that's the only response I have had so far is that there waiting for verification of my daughter this has left us in a food bank situation at the moment.

Definitely try the MP route, as that way the most senior managers will get involved and their staff have to drop everything until the issue is resolved. We had people who would use that option constantly for trivial and non-urgent issues, but your situation is definitely urgent and warrants their full attention. I would have hoped the staff hearing about your situation would have prioritised it, especially given the duress it's placed you and your daughter under, but it often depends on the individual you speak to. Just reading about your situation is stressful, so I can't begin to imagine what it must be like for you and your daughter.

Definitely keep on at them though, until you get the issue resolved and speak to your MP. I know politicians are most often useless, but I can't stress how much priority any enquiries from them were given by the DWP - and your situation should be pushed through because you shouldn't have to be relying on a food bank when it's a situation that is not your fault and you've done everything by the book regarding notifying them of a change in circumstances.
