Amiyriptyline making me more depressed

Hi everyone, i am still struggling with meds. I have been given Amitriptyline to add to my Venlafaxine to help me sleep. Started on 2.5mgs. 11th day in, i can bear horrible side effects & it does help me sleep but my depression has got worse since taking this medication. Is this a sign it is not the right med for me. Anyone else found this, or does it get better. Thank you.

Hi,There are 2 ways to look at taking new meds.

1. Your body might take more or less time to get used to a drug

2. The symptoms are unbearable and you want to ✋ stop.

Only you know what's happening on the inside of your body and brain.

If you want to make the call on stopping before your next meds review, no-one will think any worse of you.

Sorry things are so difficult for you. I came off Venlafaxine some time ago. (Been on Amitriptilyne for several months now and a month ago Sertraline was added.) I don't have same experience but I was put on a low dose of Sertraline and told to expect a bit of a dip before things would improve. One month on, I found that was the case. - Hope this helps a little and that things soon improve for you.
