Well! Rain and 40 mph gusty wind made for an *interesting* first HM! On the plus side it made it feel even more epic! The downside was definitely the strong headwind going up hill.
I enjoyed it and got a good (for me) time that I’m very proud of. The training plan worked and I felt confident at the start. I was running with a friend and we had done all our long runs together over the last 12 weeks so it was lovely to run it together today. That’s me with my race number in the photo with Carly, my fab running buddy. We had tested our fuelling, clothes everything checked and sorted!! Again, it helped calm the nerves .... just another long training run!
The race was very well organised and there was great support from marshals and local people. There were people with jelly babies and drinks in addition to the race drinks stations and lots of people out on the horrible conditions to cheer us all on. The race was mainly on the Tarka Trail which looked stunning despite the weather but I think I need to run it again to see it at its best!
After a hot bath and a large coffee I’m feeling very smug!
PS: admins .... please could I have a HM badge 😁

Well done! The weather was challenging I’m sure, but better than being overly hot. I can imagine you feel mighty smug this evening, as so you should! Wear your HM badge with pride, you deserve it. 👏👏👏
