Eye is swelling and frequent watering

Hello guys,

We are a family currently on a tour to Canada. From the second day, we reached Canada, my youngest daughter is having some issues with her left eye. There are frequent watering and a little swelling on the eye and, it is causing her a lot of discomforts. So, we had to stop our tour in the middle and lodged on a hotel to see whether the issue would go away it's own. But, it didn't.

It is the first time in her life she is facing such a trouble. She was always a healthy child, fun to be around and outgoing. I am sure it is not due to any allergic conditions because she used to spend a lot of time outdoors. Also, she plays sports on weekdays and we used to spend a lot of time outdoors camping on weekends. So, she is used to different climates and weather.

We are really afraid about her condition and looking for some good ophthalmologist in the Toronto area. We have found one while searching on the internet and found one (herzig-eye.com/). We would like to know what you guys think about them since we have no previous experience with the health care of the country. I hope someone will be ready to help my family.

Thank you.

Sorry I can't help. My first thought was allergic reaction, but you have also considered that. Have you considered going to a hospital emergency department? I do hope it turns out to be something minor and let you all get on with enjoying your holiday.

Being a nurse, my sight unseen guess is "pink eye", a nonmedical catchall term for a contagious infection of the eye. Medically called conjunctivitis, caused by bacteria or a virus. If infection, antibiotic eye drops. If virus, has to run its course. See a doctor. Urgent care or an ER (A & E). Hope it's quickly treated so you can enjoy your holiday!

First thought allergies , but you don't think so. I would seek medical advice ASAP.
